Why not?
Some less than upstanding CA can copy the signature and place on things you never wanted it placed on????
I don't know about you but I would not want a letter out there that has all my information on it, my social security number, possibly my date of birth and other personal information AND my signature on it..
Perfect letter! Exactly what i have been searching for, Thanks for the post!
Me too need one for original creditor please PM example or link
Is it worth sending the PFD letter if I've already called the CA (collection agency)? I never acknowledged the debt. I did ask for some verification letter that they would delete it if paid and the lady said she couldn't do that. She said the paid debt would roll-over to the orig creditor and it was up to them to report the debt paid/have it removed. Is that true?
I was going to call them back and just pay it off but when I called they new person on the phone couldn't find me in the system - not even with my SSN. She said I should call another department and gave me a new phone number.
Any advice?

Has the debt been reported to the Credit Bureau yet? What kind of debt is it? With which Collection agency? original creditor? Medical, CC?
Do not pay the debt off over the phone , it's best to do everything in writing..
The debt is a medical debt reported in 2008 (had no idea it was on my credit) that has been reported to all 3 CBs by Collection Company of America (collection agency/attorney). Not even sure I didn't pay already or if even owed. The insurance company I had at the time is the worst in the world (BCBS).
I did a search for this particular collection agency on the forums and it doesn't look like the PFD letters work with them. We want to get a new house in the next year or so and need to improve my score. I'm afraid if I pay it off it will keep the bad debt on file for even longer.
