PFD return address, use a PO BOX

I was just thinking about and wondering if sending communications to CA's with your current address is a bad idea. Meaning, your current address or any address that is on your CR. It just seems like a bad thing. Wouldn't it be better to get a PO Box for all DV, PFD and other communications with the collectors?

IMO it wouldn't be worth the hassle.   CAs know where you live, or they can easily find out just by pulling your credit reports.

I wouldn't go around giving them any other info though...like phone numbers, etc...

Only if you were engaging in HIPAA which involves deleting old addresses, would you need to worry about that, IMO.

Re: PFD return address, use a PO BOX

I rented a po box for my credit repair purposes.   It's easier for me to keep track of everything, and I don't have to worry about my roommates accidentally reading my mail or forgetting to give me a piece of mail.

I actually updated all of my bills to this address as well.  I think it's all a matter of personal preference.

I feel it's wise to use a PO Box for this and other purposes - for your purpose espeically if you have moved. Not to mention the fact that your mail is much more secure to help avoid mail theft, etc. But when I got into trouble years ago, I had used a PO Box and a voice mail number exclusively because I moved so much as a student and had heard via law enforcement that it was safer.  When I had to go on temporary disability and couldn't pay my bills, I was never once bothered by creditors as they didn't have any other current contact info.  I deleted any messages when I called into my VM and put the collection letters aside without opening them until I was in a better position to deal with them. I highly recommend it. Even though my CR and scores are now stellar, I continue to use a PO Box for safety against identity theft.  I have a friend who moved three times in seven months. It was a total pain having to keep changing his address, and it creates a longer CR so you run the risk of having it split off. And I have read that creditors don't like to see lots of addresss changes. It would have been much simpler if he had a PO Box. His address never would have had to change insofar as his creditors were concerend, or anyone else for that matter.
