Past Credit problems

Hi Folks -  I'm a new member here and for the last several yrs I have been struggling to get my credit in the right path..  I went into BK in Sept/04 and since then I made several bad decisions, late payments and was delinquent in several of my credits cards..  In the last 2 yrs however I have been paying my bills on time and have not got any late payments in my report..

After reading GW letters threads.. and  people having  success sending in these GW letters - I want to take my chance.  I have 7 bad accounts plus BK that I hope will fall off in Sept/2014 it's 10th yr anniversary.  Do you guys think that sending GW letters will get these negative out of my credit history?

Re: There e: Past Credit problems

What do you think..  It is wise to send GW letters or just wait it out till the baddies falls off?..  I will try to contact the one with outstanding ballance and see if I can send PFD and hope Capitol One deletes the whole thing..

It never hurts to send a GW letter.  All they can do is say no.

+1

You just have the one that's reporting a balance and it's also hurting your util.  Are these others paid or are there CA's with these accounts now?

Re: There e: Past Credit problems

I'm really bad in managing my financial situation.. but now im trying my best to change all that.  I'm not sure which one I paid or didn't, I was getting calls left and right by CA yrs back.. so im not sure about any of it except for the Capitol One account..

I'm afraid that if I send GW letters..  They will start reporting again to collection now that I don't have any collection on file in my credit history..

I will be paying my balance off in the next month..  but really this is my only credit card I have and been using it for everyday transaction.. so once I get my pay check I pay it off not in full but I'm transferring funds every 15 days..

Shogun - I admire your success..  How many years or months did it take for you to recover your credit score?  If you don't mind.. I would like to get some advise. - Thanks.

Re: There e: Past Credit problems

It took me 2 years to break into the higher scores.   I went from the low 500s to mid 600's in 6 months to secure a mortgage.  I figured why stop there and just kept hammering away at it.
