Paying on Old First Premier

I currently have 3 accounts with perfect payment history and 2 First Premier accounts that are listed as charge off's.  The amount owed for FP are 375 and 355.  My other accounts are: GE Consumer finance 791 balance (1200 limit), Credit One 430.00 Balance (500 limit) and Capital One 0.00 balance (300 limit).  I used the FICO simulator and it showed a 70-90 point increase if I paid off all owed.  I just paid off the Credit One credit Card and paid down the GE 200. The balances above do not reflect my most recent payment.  MyFico is telling me that my balances are too high.  I have tried to do a PFD with First Premier with no luck.  Would it be benificial to just pay FP off in full just so my total amount owed will go down, or will that hurt me?  They were both charged off late 2012.

The CO's are being factored into your total utilization, since balances are being reported. It most definitely is in your interest to get them resolved.

Re: Paying on Old First Premier

Im having the same issue. I have 2 CO accounts with FP. 1 for $397 and 1 for $480. The only difference with me is they are set to fall off in about 5 months. The one account for $397 FP keep posting that I made a payment (on 3/14 and 9/14) which I didnt at all but when they do that it really hurts my score. The amount is also really hurting my score and once those 2 come off/fall off my score will go up a lot.

When I aksed this question about paying them off I was told that if I paid it off that FP would actually update the status and it would make my score actually go down because FICO would now see it as a 2014 CO. I dont much about it so maybe something else can help explain it more. There are also tons of horror stories about FP Smiley Sad My plan is to keep asking the CRAs for a early exclusion and hope that works now. If not im just impatiently waiting for them to fall off. Good Luck with whatever you decide!

Re: Paying on Old First Premier

If your FP account was opened 2008 or earlier (not DoFD, but opened) you might want to google "Compucredit FTC Suit" First Premier was doing some REALLY shady stuff in the mid-2000's that got them a beat-down in the courts from the FTC. From what I've heard many people have gotten old FP CO's completely deleted by mentioning the 2008 FTC suit.

Re: Paying on Old First Premier

Oh wow I did not know that and they have been posting fake payments on my one account in March 14 and September 14 (which is a total lie). My one account was opened June 2007 (first DoFD was 4/08) and my second account was opened 1/2008 (first DoFD again was 4/08).

Thanks again so much for this info. So who do I dispute the accounts with to mention that information. Do I open a dispute with the CRAs?

I will search for the information now. Thank you so much again. I have been wanting them off my report but scared to do anything because of how bad FP is.
