Im grateful for the knowledge Ive gained through this forum. Persistence is the key to accomplishment. I attempted a GW letter to JCPenney and this was the initial response:

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
Just last week I sent several GW letters. The 3 that have responded so far were Wells Fargo Auto (its an open account) with lates, Franklin Collection Agency (paid collection), and Chase (old closed account with lates).
This week, Franklin Collection Agency and Chase both erased my records from all 3 CRAs and Wells Fargo sent me that letter about "we report accurate info". I figured they might help me with the late reports because I am still a paying customer, and I have paid over the amount due each month for over a year. Guess not. But, have been thinking about trying again
.
Someone else I sent a letter to did something positive to my report because my credit score rose again yesterday. I'm not sure who it was since I only saw the score alert and not my updated report, but I'll post whoever it was when I find out in case that can help anyone on the forums.
I am still awaiting about 5 more responses, and will try again in about a week if I don't hear anything. ![]()
Jerry,
I received the same response from my intial goodwill letter to JCP. I was wondering if you would post your emailed letter and the address you sent it to? I am very anxious to get my lates cleared up.
Thanks!

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing this letter today for a few reasons. The first being to express my satisfaction with J C Penney Stores, their products and services. My family and I shop at J C Penney stores more than any other retailer. The other reason is a humble request to have my account information amended with regards to the late payments occurring in November of 2009.
I have J C Penney Card and have been a loyal customer with a good record of paying my accounts on-time.(Inset your reason for the late payment.) . As soon as this mistake was realized I immediately brought my accounts current. This error has created drastic effects on my credit rating. I am committing to you that my payments to your company will be in a timely manner.
I am currently in the process of acquiring a mortgage and I am requesting you give me a second chance at a positive credit rating by revising these late payments. I sincerely hope J C Penney believes in their customers as we do in their products and services and humbly request your consideration in this matter. I appreciate your time and look forward to receiving a favorable decision from your department soon.
Sincerely,
