Re: Where do I go from here?

They will help in that you’ll be adding positive tradelines and demonstrating responsible management skills, as well as boosting your score from doing so (and from adding a card - for many of us, each of our first three cards increased our scores). I would still give it six months between approval and new app just to allow your file to age a bit. Yours is thin enough that any credit moves can have an exaggerated effect - you may gain from a new card, but I’ve seen at least one other user who lost 20 points for an inquiry because his file was so thin. There are some teething pains that happen early on and that’s the price you have to pay, but get a good six months in between apps and you may gain enough in points from doing so to mitigate the hit when you get your next card.

Give Disco a shot and see if anything pops. If it doesnt. You could try the Disco secured which will graduate. Cap1 isnt graduating at this time for whatever reason. We'll get you there.

Re: Where do I go from here?

You guys are more than worth your weight in gold. I appreciate this so much. I'll wait it out for another six months & continue on time payments with the card I have now. The due date on it is set 14 days before the actual due date so that I am never late at all ; it always posts as *Current in good standing* I charge 10 dollars max on the card & try to keep my utilization very low between 1-10% (Ideally 1% consistently/ the whole balance is 200$) the account it's coming out from now is solely for bills with a little extra there in case an extra payment or two is needed before the due date.

Re: Where do I go from here?

Sounds good. Keep in mind you can use it all you want during the billing cycle, just pay down to 7% or less by the due date (that way if you do report a balance, it will stay below the known 8.9% breakpoint after interest is added). Heavier use and good payment activity may spur them into giving you a better CLI when that time comes as well.

I only have one secured credit card through First Progress with 8 months of on time payments. On credit Karma it says I have 4 inquiries, though the CRC stated I have 14 inquiries over a period of 2 years which began in 2017 (the inquiries) I have 4 inquiries in total according to CK; 3 this yr from a mortgage pre approval application I was not aware they did a hard pull on my credit (those are slated to fall off in 2021) and one is due to fall off before the end of the year

Unless I missed it, what product did you have with NFCU?  Still a member?

Their secured card and their SSL are the best out there.

Re: Where do I go from here?

I had a NFCU secured card. And yeah, I'm still a member. They closed out the card I had though I want to reapply for a new secured card with them; a potential HP is what is stopping me from applying due to my credit file being so thin. I also have a government overpayment on my credit profile which may be impacting lending decisions at the moment (the CA is the Dept of Treasury(the original debt was with DFAS) Dept of Treasury tacked on a 300 dollar admin fee on the original 1200 so I'm saving up money to pay the 1500 in total by making a lump sum payment before the end of year **DFAS states they will remove the collection account & ask all 3 bureaus to remove as long as it is paid in full which it will be soon.** Thinking about waiting another six months to try with Navy Federal Secured card since my credit will have aged a bit

Re: Where do I go from here?

Anyone else want to chime in? Would love some feedback. I paid off the account in full & they are in the process of getting back with me to do a courtesy removal of the paid off account from all credit reporting as they state they will do from their website.
