Anyone have any dirt on these people, or had actual dealings with them? I've been able to find out that they use India Telemarketers to do their calling, so they are sending personal info out of the country anyone else have anything else on them?

Re: Portfolio Recovery Associates

Portfolio recently placed a hard inq on my TU report for a collection that's more than 10 years old without permissible purpose.

Re: Portfolio Recovery Associates

Are you going to do anything about it?  How long ago was this?  They are being sued, I found some dirt on them at www.Justia.com, for all kinds of violations of FACTA, etc.

Re: Portfolio Recovery Associates

The inq was placed on 12/29...some holiday gift.Smiley Mad Though my scores are quite good, I'm still suing both Portfolio and TU. This is just a matter of principle.

Re: Portfolio Recovery Associates

Your suing? Could we perhaps chat? I'm a little irate about this situation and would like to know if I'm eligible to sue, and what it would cost me to do that. EDITED! I'd be really grateful and interested in hearing what your experience has been.

I would be happy that we share our experiences, but let's do so either in the forums or by PM (private messages). MyFICO prefers we do not share personal info in the forums, it's for everyone's safety. Thank you for your undersyanding!

Re: Portfolio Recovery Associates

Potfolio Recovery....where should I begin.    The debt is over 7 years from Sears....disputed it with all three agencies. Two removed it with no questions asked.  Equifax will not remove and said they are still reporting on me and the date of last activity is within the 7 years.  Why won't they remove it and the others did?  How can I get this off my Equifax report?  HELP!!!!

Some CRA's act more stupid than the others at times...and they do not share information...so while the other two deleted, EQ probably believes it should stay!

Try DV'ing them again..
Rebuilding and Reducing Debt, is my game plan.

Section 805 of the Fair Debt Collection Act sets forth:

§ 805. Communication in connection with debt collection [15 USC 1692c]

(b) COMMUNICATION WITH THIRD PARTIES. Except as provided in section 804, without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector, or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, or as reasonably necessary to effectuate a postjudgment judicial remedy, a debt collector may not communicate, in connection with the collection of any debt, with any person

other than a consumer, his attorney, a consumer reporting agency if otherwise permitted by law, the creditor, the attorney of the creditor, or the attorney of the debt collector.
