Medical is very different then other collections! You MAY call the hospital and find out the amount that you owe and IF ins. should have paid ask if they filed with the ins.co.
You can also call the ins. co. and be sure that it was filed.
If you find that you do owe.....send a check with the 2nd HIPAA letter using the insert B......amount being paid
Be sure that the check is made payable to the OC!!! on the back of the check write * for deposit only*
Only PAID medical collections must be deleted!!
IMO the best way is to call & get the amount owed.....pay it and then start the HIPAA prosess.
If you can not PIF make payments until PIF....then start with the Pre-HIPAA
Never contact the CA!!!!! even if the debt is not medical do not talk to a CA!!!
If you are getting phone calls from a CA get the name and address if you can BUT other then that do not discuss anything else!! everything in writting!
If the calls are for a debt that is past SOL you can send a DV and the past SOL letter. The DV tells them no phone calls!!! Be sure that you are past SOL!!! all letters go CMRRR
Remember....PAID medical must be deleted.......other paid collections do NOT!
