Question about deleting negative

How do you figure out when something should fall off of your report?  I had a collection from that actually happened in 2006, but the debt is from 2002.  Which date is used to figure out when it should come off?

Thanks!

The clock starts ticking in 2006 when it was reported.

Re: Question about deleting negative

It will drop pff your CR 7 - 7.5 years from DOFD. If the DOFD was in 2002 then it should drop this year. The month that it accured counts.

Re: Question about deleting negative

The credit reporting period is 7-7.5 years from the date of first delinquency, which is the date in which you first became delinquent and never became current again.  If you haven't already, obtain your free annual credit reports from annualcreditreport.com.  Those reports come directly from the credit bureaus, and will list either the date of first delinquency (Equifax) or the approximate fall off date (Experian and TransUnion).

Re: Question about deleting negative

I have never seen a fall off date on my EX reports....ever.  Sometimes they'll have the mm/yyyy of payments but never a listed date of delinquency.  Just thought it odd that I've seen that (fall off date) mentioned several times re EX.

Yes that is peculiar, becaues every negative accout I have/had on EX had a drop off date listed in the status details.

I have no "status details"  hmmmmmm

I have a report from April this year....Cap 1 "collection as of Oct 02"  (sssshhhhh....it's really 03!)

But another acct just has a bunch of payment dates under Acct History.

Weird.

Sometimes, if the a/c is eventually going to turn positive, they dont list the drop off date.

Re: Question about deleting negative

If you have extra time  you do not have to wait around for adverse accounts to fall off automatically.  If you can write well, and be persuasive you can get what ever results you want.  I have had numerous success dealing with OC's and two CA's.
