Question on when to open third revolver

We are just starting our rebuild and have now opened Cap1 secured ($200) in my name with husband as AU and today opened Disco It secured ($300) in husbands name and will add me as AU.  I know the goal is three, but I really am hoping to work on some PFD's and such at the same time, and don't want to have to open a third secured if I can help it.  Would it be unreasonable to hope that after 3-5 months with good utilization and payments we could get an unsecured card?  And would it be okay to wait that long?  I know this is a marathon and not a sprint, but I want to maximize our score growth potential where I can!

You have two decent cards from major lenders. If you want a third one, now would probably be better than later. Check local credit unions if you're attempting non secured card, a lot of them have starter cards.

I am fairly certain in 3-5 months you will qualify for QS1, but I would take a pass on that one because of AF and being notoriously hard to PC.

Good luck

Re: Question on when to open third revolver

I started with scores slightly worse than yours. I got the Cap1 and Discover secured card.

After only 3 months Cap1 gave me an unsecured card.

It was actually my 4th card (plus I had a Self Lender loan). Just keep checking the Cap1 prequalification link. No need to rush to get the 3rd, imho. I wish I had waited because the 3rd card I got from the other bank is useless. I use my two Cap1 cards often.
