Re: Question

What do you mean non permissable? Did you have an account assigned to calavary? If so, then the inquiry is legitimate. If you dont have an account with them and they pulled your report in error due to faulty skip trace, you can request them to delete it.

Re: Question

I found the letter right here in the forum. I'm confused myself, who can really pull your credit and under what grounds ?

Re: Question

Completely agree,  just unfortunatey its written in stone in the FCRA:

Permissible purpose is defined in Section 604 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). [15 U.S.C. § 1681b] In general. Subject to subsection (c), any consumer reporting agency may furnish a consumer report under the following circumstances and no other:

3. To a person which it has reason to believe intends to use the information in connection with a credit transaction involving the consumer on whom the information is to be furnished and involving the extension of credit to, or review or collection of an account of, the consumer

Re: Question

So in other words my letter was a waste of time. And there is nothing I can do to prevent future inquiries.

Re: Question

Although the collection account may not be on file, that wont stop the collection agency to pursue collections. Since the account is old from 1996, the SOL is in your favor. But keep in mind, as long as they own your account, they do have permissable purpose.
