1. How often should I check my score to make sure I am making Progress?
2. When a charge off is paid in full, can it be deleted from my Credit Report?
I would pull it every 30 days if you are looking for something specific.
Once a CO is paid in full you can send GW letters to those reporting to see if they will delete.
Thank you, I called a couple of the CO's and asked if I paid it off if they would delete it and they said they cannot. I did not know if this was true or not.
Another question is weather is is wise to pay it in full or just take a settlement.
I am just starting to try and clean up my credit, but not sure it is worth the hassle. CO can be so nasty, even when your trying to pay.
Any creditor has the right to remove any information from your CR as they see fit. They tend to misinterperet the FCRA which says they must report accurate information, which is true, if they do report. The FCRA does not say they have to report.
If you take a settlement you would need to get it in writing and be mindful of the wording. It needs to say if they accept the settlement it relieves you of further financial obligation on the account. Otherwise they can and will come after you for the remainder.
When you say CO do you mean OC or CA?
It is very much worth the hassle to get a good FICO score.
I meant CA, I'm sorry.
I am all frazzled, I just got off the phone with one.

NEVER, EVER talk to a CA.
Can you list the accounts you are concerned about? Leave out personal information.
What state are you in?
I am in Pa.
This is probably a dumb question, by why never talk to a CA?
I will get the list ready.

I am going to suggest you pull your reports from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
You get one free per CRA per year. They will give a lot more detailed information.
If you talk to a CA they can take what you say and try and turn it around and things like that. Never trust what they tell you. If you offer a PFD and they accept, get it in writing.
