Quick Question re: PFD

I wondered if calling to ask for PFD is okay as opposed to writing a letter?  I have two accounts I am currently able to pay, but was hoping to perhaps get them deleted as well.   I would obviously ask to get the terms in writing, but wanted to know whether it would be okay to call for the offer.  I trust all of your advice and have learned so much from this site!

Thank you!  Smiley Happy

Re: Quick Question re: PFD

I'd probably write just to have a paper trail. Good luck with it...I haven't had much success, unfortunately.

Re: Quick Question re: PFD

To be quiet honest, I am about to exercise that option myself. I have tried writing to my CAs but I am getting no or crap responses. Just make sure that you are very firm with them as they WILL try to get you to pay over the phone and they will try to convince you that this is the best method, ITS NOT!!! You can ask for a PFD over the phone but just make sure that you have them mail the letter before you send them any money. You can ask the agent on the phone for their employee Id or something becuase a lot of them get credit for convincing people to pay over the phone and if you go to the mail route after speaking with the agent, they get nothing. Definetely try it and let us all know how it works out.

Re: Quick Question re: PFD

My pfd over the phone worked with bolder collection. I just recorded it via a device I got from Radio Shack. I didn't need it in the long run, but I wanted it just incase. Remember the lewinsky scandal. In most states one party is allowed to record another. You can check by going to google. So that's what I did, incase they said they didn't say it. I even repeated everything: Let me get this straight, your supervisor, bob, has agreed that upon receipt of my payment, etc. Anyways I didn't need it but it did work. They are no longer on my credit report. It was for 1500 dollars
