She's the one that told me she understood, that because of our relationship and prior payment history, that she would be willing to get this fixed for me, back in March 2021.
Then, again, I got the same message in April 2021. Then, again, I got the same message in May 2021.
I'm trying to get a mortgage and I took these three separate account supervisors at their word that I would be taken care off for the requests that I have, now, 90 days later and after being told FEMA protected consumers during disasters, a lady rudely called me and told me it's only "fair" that I should be treated the same as customers that did not experience extraneous circumstances.
That's lack of acceptance of responsbilility?
You were late prior to disaster. It might not have been reportable, but it doesn't meet the definition of "account in good standing"
I don't know why "she" told you she can fix that for you, usually "we will look into it" is the correct answer, but none of that changes the fact reporting is correct.
You might be entitled to an apology, but that's about it.
You can dispute, it will come back verified. You can file complaint, but Citi has all the necessary info to show they are following all the rules and regulations.
I get the part mortgage is your motivation but again, you were late. You figured you had 30 days before it can be reported, didn't quite pan out.
You had at least 45 from December closing to January due date. A minimum payment at any point would have made all this avoidable, but again, you put your eggs in a wrong basket.
You are free to dispute, you are free to file complaints, you are certainly feeling free to vent, but if these are responses you're getting on CC forum, imagine the response from those who do this for living.
The sheer force and adversarial stance by which you're approaching this topic tells me you feel this wasn't your fault. It was.
Anyone who reads just the post number one will not tell you this is Citi's fault. While we are about being supportive, not every behavior can be supported.
Good luck with your future efforts.
I have a few things to ask about your post, actually. The part I highlighted - curious what you mean by this? Are you implying the account was late, I actively knew it was late and purposely chose not to pay $20 because "why waste my time"? Very odd choice of words. The mortgage situation wasn't a thing until this month, but only after I was told Citi would help me out here. It wasn't a deciding factor to call them in March.
Also - sure, I understand my actions led to this. But Ive seen success stories on here for people who didn't even have any extra circumstances, they simply just kept calling and bugging until the right person just said "OK - sure, fine, we will remove it". But, your response to me is "you were late! its all your fault! god, you went through a natural disaster with no power for 10 days and you want Citi to feel sorry for you?! How dare you!"
I mean, come on. To say that the reponses here haven't been condescending (at best) for the most part, is a lie.

@Slabenstein Thank for you this reply! Since I just filed through the credit bereaus, I'll give it time to see if it gets denied, if it does, I will go through the CFPB. Thank you!
I think you are getting confused responses due to the confusing situation. First you state "My bestbuy citi card was already late (due Jan 21, 2021)" and then state "I made a payment in full 3 days after the disaster ended (2 days late)". I am having a hard time reconciling what your issue is.

Here's the TLDR: I want Citi to remove a 30 days late payment from my credit report, because my payment was due while I was sitting in a cold dark house with no heat, internet or cell service for 10 days. So far, they refuse to do so, even though it was a FEMA declared disaster.
