Rebuilding Help

Hello guys i am trying to rebuild my credit to buy a new suv and i cant seem to raise my score to where it needs to be. I have done alot but now just stoped in my tracks.

Here are the good things score from creditchecktotal.com

Experian-618

Equifax-559

TransUnion-571

CAP ONE sec-200

CAP ONE Plant-750

Credit First Firestone-1,200

I dont know if getting another card with help or not...?

BK C7 Discharge 5/20/2014

39% of credit usage showing on creditwise due to using the firestone card becuse we had a mojor engine repair but we have been paying it down about 300 each week.

Have VERIZON Showing $852.00 but status is showing discharged throught BK 7

Had a repo back in 2015 due to loss of job from First investors  showing account charged off $11.445 written off. $14.599 pass due as of 9/2016. I know this is hurting me but really dont know what to do with this..???

Would really like to understand what i need to do. We just need something that is going to be able to take long trips and low miles.

Re: Rebuilding Help

Payment history is the highest weighted scoring category, and most scores in the 600'ish range have substantial major payment history derogs, including 90+ lates, COs, collections, and public records.  That is the first category I would look at for substantive score improvement.

BK removes the debt, but not derogs that occured prior to the BK.  What derogs are still present?

Are your post-BK accounts currently delinquent?

Have you sent any GW or PFD offers to attempt removal of prior derogs?

Was the repossessed vehicle purchased before your bankruptcy?

Re: Rebuilding Help

I have two lates with firestone credit first and i havent sent any GW letters to them yet.

The repo was after BK7 Becuse i got laid off and we had another vehicle that was paid for so we sent the other back becuse we couldnt afford it. i know it what a bad mistake but i also had 4 kids to feed.

Re: Rebuilding Help

Not a quick fix but the biggest impact for your report will most likely be getting as many "pays as agreed" on your report as possible to outweigh the payment history. Getting a few extra accounts reporting will drop your utilization also. A secure loan through a credit union will give you an installment acct reporting if you have the ability to stick the money in savings for the loan then pay 70% of the balance immediately. Basically it'll cost you $850 to purchase a $500 secure loan that will report positively on your report within a month.

Re: Rebuilding Help

@Anonymous.

As RobertEG pointed out, payment history is a big factor in FICO scoring.  If the Verizon collection is reporting monthly, along with the repo, and the lates, then your score can't improve.  Lowering UTI can only help your score so much

Instead of focusing on the Firestone account, I would work on settling the Verizon account, then start addressing the repo.

We understand your dilemma.  Many of us have faced similar challenges.  If you can get a handle on those two things, your scores should improve.
