Removal of Judgments

Hi there...
I got a paid tax lien removed today by EX...
a TU guy today told me that tax liens stay on for 7 years AFTER paid...?

The county clerk where it was filed thought that they stayed on indefintely but could not find mine(paid in 2005)and told me to cantact IRS (like I want to do that!!) j/k

I am thinking that EQ will remove because they cannot get info from county clerk and will drop it...worried though about TU...especially if THAT guy handles it....

I went through the same thing with TU about getting a judgment removed. What type of paperwork do you have showing it's paid. That's what they want to see, something saying it's been vacated altogether.

Tax liens are completely different than your garden-variety judgments. Judgments can only stay on your CRs for 7 years (unless they're renewed at the 10 year mark, which IIRC, makes them "new" again and can report for another 7 years) after the filing date.

Tax liens stay for 7 years AFTER paid.

In fact, TU had our tax liens listed as "judgments." And sure enough (and I hope I won't get in trouble saying this), on a chance, we disputed the JUDGMENT entry as "obsolete" and they deleted it!!

If it were accurately displayed as a tax lien, I wouldn't have touched it, BTW. I don't believe in disputing accurate info. But in this case, it wasn't accurate.
