So, Midland has 3 times now removed collection accounts only to put them back on my report, that was before I ever tried disputing a single one. One time when this happened, they deleted then re-added the same accounts unprompted in the same week, it dropped my score 75 points! I don't feel it's fair a creditor can just keep deleting then re-adding accounts it seems wrong. They are keeping the dates the same (account opened 2018 even though re-added in 2020 and 2021), but it's clearly tanking my score each time they do this. Is there a law a law about this? It seems wrong to do. I previously tried filing an unrelated complaint with two collection agencies with cfpb but I don't think cfpb did anything other than just forward the complaint on to the company and let the company choose to say whatever they wanted so I'm unsure what I should do.
There is nothing wrong, per se, with a debt collector deleting their reported collection, and then reinserting it.
The only limitation within the FCRA regarding the reinsertion of previously deleted information is set forth in FCRA 611(a)(5)(B), which applies only to information that has been deleted by a CRA as a finding in a prior dispute of the information. In that event, the information can still be reinserted, but only if the request for reinsertion is accompanied by a certification of accuracy of the information.
In the prior dispute, was the collection actually deleted by the CRA based on their finding that the accuracy could not be verified?
If not, there is no limitation on reinsertion.
As to tanking your score by the deletion followed by reinsertion, the collection still has the same period of overall delinquency, and still must be excluded based on the same DOFD, so the reinsertion would not affect scoring to any greater degree than if it had never been deleted.
I dont agree that the deletion followed by reinsertion has a net scoring detriment.
If they are deleting and reinserting, then theoretically your score should be staying exactly the same, as any points lost from the reporting of a collection would be gained right back upon deletion. Therefore, there shouldn't be any net loss of points.
You should think there wouldn't be, but on credit karma it had 75 points lost and under what changed, it show d the on,y items changed were removing those collection accounts and re-adding those collection accounts. My score still has not fully recovered and it's been a few months.

There is a score loss. I went through it with Caci, even made a thread about it. They did it multiple times within a week or two and each time I took a score hit. Nothing else on my reports changed. I did not gain any points when it was removed, but continued to lose points every time it was added, iirc. I would have to pull up the thread to refresh my memory.
EDIT: here's the thread, I was gaining points back, but not the exact same as I lost.
Were you able to do anything about getting that account removed other than paying it? I can't pay it yet I'm work8ng on charge offs. it seems unfair.

No, they won't pfd so I let it sit since it's outside of SoL. It appears it was just a way to get my attention because they've stopped removing and inserting as well as stopped updating it.
