Removing Cable Company Collection

I have a paid collection from 2004 that was from Time Warner cable for returning their equipment late after cancelling service.  It shows up on all three credit reports.  What is the best way to get rid of this?  Send a Good Will letter?  DV? From my TU CR:

Collection on debt to: Time Warner Cable 1
The collection agency "Fincntrl Svc" was hired to collect a debt of $135 originally owed to "Time Warner Cable 1" on account number "XXXX908A".

Collection agency    Fincntrl Svc
Original balance     $135
Current balance     $0
Status    Not Reported
Date assigned    Mar 01, 2004
Date reported     Apr 15, 2009
Date last active     Not Reported
Date paid     Nov 19, 2004
Date closed     Not Reported
Original lender    Time Warner Cable 1
Account number     XXXX908A
Type of account     Not Reported
Account holder    Individual
Type of credit     Not Reported
Payment status     Not Reported
Largest past balance    Not Reported
Amount past due     Not Reported
Account descriptions    Not Reported

Looking for some advice as I believe this is something that I can get off my CRs with a little effort.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can attempt a GW, but most CA's won't respond to it positively.  If this is also being reported by the OC, then GW them to see if you can get that TL removed.

Since you have paid the collection, a PFD won't apply.  So, go ahead and try the GW.  Try the DV.  But once paid, very little leverage is left, and you probably will just have to wait it for the 7 years.

Re: Removing Cable Company Collection

So I was looking at my old credit reports a little closer and it appears that after this debt was paid to the OC, they assigned it to the collections agency.  Is this possible?  The whole deal is that I returned the cable box late and when I finally got it to the cable company, they immediately said the account was paid in full.  Why then would this have gone to collections 3 months later?

Sorry, misread the report.  But it still doesn't make sense partially due to how long ago it was and how it appears on the report.
