Hello! I am hoping someone (and possibly more!!!) can help me with a satisfied judgment.
Here is the short list detail...I had a college tuition bill that I didn't pay, went to collections..and paid it June 2008.
Experian report I received directly from them states the following:
Date Filed: Aug 2002
Date Resolved: Jun 2008
Status: Civil claim paid. This item is scheduled to continue on record until Aug 2009.
Here is my situation:
Fico Score from Equifax as of 4/6/09: 660
We will need to refi our home sometime this year
So the big questions are:
Should I wait for this to drop off my report or if I should go through the process of having it vacated?
If your feedback is to go through the vacate process, how long does it usually take?
Will this help my credit score?
Thanks in advance for your feedback. If you need additional info from me, please let me know
So, this is listed under Public records?
I don't know how long it takes to vacate a judgment, but by the time you actually get it vacated(if you can) and then get the CRA to remove, it will be August.
IMO, just let it drop.
Hi sidewinder. yes, it is listed under my public records. I was thinking that too, but wanted expert opinion. any chance it will help my score?
Is it your only PR?
Have any collections?
Chances are it will help-- however you may be rebucketed if your only PR and that could offset some of the increase but rebucketing is usually a good thing in the long run.
That's my only PR.
I have 1 paid collections on showing on EQ. It was a medical bill. The story behind that one is, I paid it in fully back in 03 or something like that and the CRA's never updated it. I called the hospital to pay (didn't remember if I had paid it or not) but they showed that it was paid. So I got the hospital to call the CA and ask them to have it removed from my report. They sent me a letter saying that it was sent in error and should be removed. So far, TU & EX have removed it. EQ is giving me a hard time. They updated it as paid, so I sent another letter and copy of the request to remove letter...

Can you explain what you mean by rebucketing?
You would get more information and better information by doing a search for "rebucketing", "buckets", "score buckets" or something like that.
