Score not moving!

A couple of weeks ago I was able to get a derog. that reported monthly to my credit report removed entirely. I was expecting a score increase but so far my score hasn't budged.

Should it have updated by now?

Re: Score not moving!

Have you actually confrimed yourself that it is no longer on your credit report? It may take 30–45 days or so for updated information to appear on credit reports requested by you or a lender, due to the reporting process. If it's no longer on your report your credit score should have increased.

Re: Score not moving!

I did confirm it. I pulled all three credit reports and it is no longer there. My fico score has not budged one point. I don't understand it....I am trying to get my credit fixed for a mortgage in the near future. My LO told me I needed to fix this derog. asap and then see if I can get a bump.

So far no go. Does FICO score update monthly or only when there is a change?  Shouldn't the removal of the derog changed it even a little? Would buying a recent report from myfico give me a more recent score or is the score I see when I log on the most recent?

Re: Score not moving!

No, the myFICO score you are looking at is the score you were at when you PAID for it, when you ordered it - it does not continue to get updated ob a daily basis based on changed to your credit report. If you purchaced it on this site, go back to it and click on the link that shows which report it is linked to - if you got that derog removed after that report then the "old" derog would stillbe on that old report.

Either way, most important thing to understand, when you buy your credit scores they are made at that moment based o n you report at that moment. If something changes in you report the next day your scores listed on the webiste, that you purchased previous to that, will NOT change - you have to purchase another round of scores to see the updated scores.

You see myFICO scores below my comments? You see how it is dated 05/21/2014? Those WERE my scores on 5/21. If I went BK tomorrow those scores would not change - I would need to order another round of scores to see my scores tank after that.

Re: Score not moving!

Yet, if you actually BOUGHT new reports, with FICO scores, after it was removed (which is what I thought I read), yes .. you would see a new FICO based on the timing of that report. Yes, the score does change when the reporting change happens, not monthly, etc. So, you have to make sure you are looking at a FICO associated with the recent reports. If you ARE looking at FICOs previously purchased, you wouldn't see the change. But, if these are your new FICOs (associated with your latest credit report pull), then it is what it is.

I will tell you that I received good boosts a number of times when derogs that were removed from my report BUT, when one of the worst ones, Asset Acceptance, came off, I did not gain a SINGLE POINT. I couldn't understand. I was told by my credit union that that was reporting as an existing revolving debt in arrears, so I expected a huge jump & got none. When Midland came off before that, it was a jump of about 20 points in my FAKO. So, you SHOULD see an increase, but you might not -- depending on the rest of what's in your file. :-/ But, you do first have to make sure you are looking at your most current FICO score before you will know what effect it has had!

Starting Score: TU 490 on 11/2012
Current Score:6/16/15:EQ 714, EX 704, TU 702 (all from myFICO)
New Goal Score: 740+ for all three

Re: Score not moving!

Thanks for the info you guys. I guess I was expecting it to bump because I have SW activated.. I have it set to notify me if my score raises above the current score I have. So what is the SW for it is doesn't reflect increases or decreases in your score? I guess I am confused! Smiley Sad

Re: Score not moving!

zoe505, please confirm for us - have you or have you not purchased new scores after the derog was removed? From how I undertood your explanation you did get a new Credit REPORT (in which you conf'd the derog was removed) but did you buy new credit SCORES after that, or with that new credit report? You say "My fico score has not budged one point" - which scores? The ones that you previously purchased or new scores that you purchased AFTER the removal?

That's probably why you didn't see a change in score.  If it had not updated in years (or a long time) and then was deleted, then you probably would have seen an increase.  IME, when my last collection was deleted I didn't see a score change either, and it had been updating monthly as well.

Edit:  I also wanted to add that going forward, my score has slowly increased.  I just didn't get an initial bump from having the collection deleted.

Re: Score not moving!

Thanks all for the replies...I purchased my credit reports and scores from myfico yesterday and the collection has been removed and my score has not budged.

What a bummer!! I was hoping for a little bit of a bump!

I think what is holding me down is late payments. I have a 30 day from last year on a capital one card. I have tried a few times for GW deletion but so far no go. Prior to that I was having terrible financial difficulty due to poor decisions and money management. I have a 120 day late on a student loan from 2012 and several 30 days on an auto loan from 2011 and 2012. The auto loan is now paid off.

I know lates have a big impact on your score. So if that is the case I don't see how I will ever get my score to increase! All collections on my report have been removed...I have two secured cards that I have been using and paying down below 10% each month. I don't know what else to do to get my score to go up.

Without GW deletions it really looks hopeless. I really don't think the Dept. of Ed will do a GW deletion. Capital one is not being helpful at this time.

Any advice on how to get my score up without GW deletions?

Not necessarily, when a CA or an OC updates on a monthly basis this looks like a new entry to Fico and your score is adjusted typically downward, the downward move only occurs once and the monthly updating keeps it down, conversely if it has not been updated in awhile as it ages your Fico will rise as it is further back in the timeline, a collection at the max CRTP may only be worth a few points increase when it is excluded from your CR.
