I've never posted in the Rebuilding sub-forum (I'm normally over in the Credit Cards), but I'm very frustrated today. Yesterday, my scores were (all FICO) TU 690, EQ 676, and EX 670. I was extremely happy with my progress. Then today, I was alerted by myFICO that I had score changes to view. My TU dropped 34 and my EQ droppped 29 (to 656 and 647). I can't even describe how I felt. There was no explanation to go along with the drops, just alerts of changes. I immediately started combing my reports, and found that a finance company I have a loan with showed 30 days late for January. UGH!!!! This isn't at all true.
I called the lender today, and they agree that I've never been late. I've had this loan for two years. They claim they have no idea how it reported late, and my only option is to file a dispute with the CRAs. So I did. Both TU and EQ said it should be a fairly quick process.
This is just so frustrating!! I've worked so hard at doing things right, and this happens. What if I was going tomorrow to get a loan or credit card?
This is basically a testimony to having monitoring service of some kind. Sorry for rambling.
Rogue computers, it should be taken care of quickly if not there are ways to get it done.
Sounds like you did everything to get it back to where it was and since you have the loan company in agreement should be a slam dunk in your favor.
I'm sorry this happened to you. Someone probably mixed up entries and entered it under your SSN rather than the person who was originally late. Hopefully this will be fixed quickly.
I fully understand! I am the same boat. After cleaning up my credit and feeling good about it I had a collection show up on mine. Ended up Century Link didn't credit my eqipment back and sent it to collections. Lost lots of sleep. Spent lots of time on the phone. 7 days later I was told it was being deleted and was not my fault but it could take 60 days.
I feel your pain. I really do.
Thanks for all the encouragement! My wife pointed out an upside to all of this: with artificially lowered scores, I'll be forced to stay in the Garden. Ha
Good job staying ahead of the game. They will fix it!
Because you know what your scores were before, please let us know if they return to the same scores. I'm interested! This is quite serious and if you were to need credit before the late was removed, it could potentially cost you money. Lawsuit? I'm half joking. Businesses need to be held responsible for false reporting!

I woke up this morning to an email from EQ saying the dispute had been resolved. Checked myFICO and he EQ score was 679! Still waiting on TU, but I'm very pleased with how quick EQ was with this process.
update: TransUnion is back up to 686, and all is right with the world.
