Southwest Credit Systems!

Hi Guys,

So I sent a pfd letter about 2-3 weeks ago offering 50% off outstanding balance on a cable bill in collections from a couple years ago.  Southwest sent me a letter stating that my account may qualify for the 50% discount.  In addition, the OC will consider my account resolved.  It said nothing about ageeing to pay for a deletion, which is what I requested.  Fast forward today, and I got an alert from all credit monitoring agencies that I signed up for, including myfico and experian, stating that a collection was removed from my account (Southwest Credit).  So I immediately requested my free credit report to verify this information, and to my surprise, it was no longer on my credit report.  Now, I had not made any payments to them as yet.  So my question is, should I go ahead and pay them the settlement amount without them sending me anything in writing other than the original letter they sent me saying I qualify for the discount?  Since they already remove it from my credit report without any agreement in writing, I'm afraid that if/when I pay them, they might update my account and report an outstanding balance on the other 50%.   I'm really happy that it was removed, so I want to pay them before they think I'm taking too long and report it again on my report.  Any thoughts welcome, thank you

Re: Southwest Credit Systems!

I had a cable collection with this company as well. I was able to contact the cable company (Comcast) directly and paid them (full amount) and they recalled it from the collection agency and it was deleted. I called and chatted with them and then screenshot the chat in case it wasn't deleted. It took about a month ans half but it was fully deleted. When I called southwest the refused any pay for deletes on settlement. Good luck.

Re: Southwest Credit Systems!

Thank you so much for this information.  I think that will be my best recourse because I worry that if I pay them the agreed upon settlement then they might come back for the balance.
