Hi All,
Haven't been on this forum for about 4 years... And I'm here again.
I checked my Experian report and this message is on one of my accounts -> Special handling - contact subscriber for additional information
Now this is the background. This is on a Polaris Slingshot loan that I UNFORTUNATELY co-signed for. We are no longer together and hes started paying it late. My credit went from an 814 to a 652 I have not disputed this acount with any of the CBs because really, theres nothing to dispute. I have called the bank before the lates happened to see if I could be released from the loan and that was a no go. I know I'm the co-signer and I am financially responcible for it but does anyone know what I can do???? He won't refinance because he has already screwed up his credit now and talking to him is like talking to the wall. And he will not surrender the Slingshot either. So:
1. What is that comment on my credit report.
2. Anybody have suggestions on what I can do to get myself out this situation?
(SYNCB/POLARIS CONSUMER Open. $987 past due as of Jan 2024) Last payment date - Nov 12, 2023 60 days late

Welcome ( back ) to the forums !
Not sure there's much that you can do unfortunately. You've learned the hard way that co-signing is basically putting your credit history in someone else's hands. Do you know if he's planning to start making payments again? Or you have no idea at this point?
What is the outstanding balance on the loan? Is this something you could reasonably pay in order to stop the damage to your reports? Not the greatest option but I think you should consider it if feasible.
Regarding the "special handling" comment - I don't know what exactly this means but guessing it is some notation related to the loan being late. I don't think those comments are damaging by themselves, it's the late payments that will hurt.
Heyyy @pizzadude
I have no idea what he's planning to do at this point. He doesn't communicate well and just tells me that he's going to pay it. Same song and dance every month and then just ignores me. He can care less about his credit now either. I think it may be out for repossession but I'm not sure. They have stopped calling me.
The full loan amount was $34,974, the balance is $21,392. Monthly Payment of $511. Prior I have paid a month or two to save it from becoming late. But I no longer continue to pay for something that I have no possession of and for someone who just doesn't care. So me paying it off is out of the question.
Thanks for responding!
Understood, no one wants to have to pay off a loan for a vehicle that they can't use.
Guessing you're on the title for it as well, right? Do you still have the keys
Sort of unrelated topic, the Slingshot qualifies as a motorcycle for registration / insurance purposes, is that correct?
