Hi everyone. Thank you for all the info. I did my homework and had all of my Grandfathers information ready. His name, affiliation, date of birth, date of death and a copy of his DD214 that I was able to locate through a family member. I called nfcu on Thursday evening and explained that my grandfather was retired navy. They asked for his name and what branch of the military he served in. Then she told me that I was eligible and took my application over the phone. The membership was not instantly approved, she put me on hold and checked with the security department, then came back on the line and told me that they needed to see a copy of my drivers license. I faxed it over to the BSA department on Friday morning and I called an hour later to verify that the recieved it. It took about 10 min. and then I was a member! I'm very happy. I had to fund the share savings account via my current checking account online, which I'm waiting to make sure that it went through. I also applied online yesterday afternoon for a cash rewards card. I hope that was the best one to try for. I got the 3-5 day message, so I'll update as soon as I find out. I'm trying not to hope for too much because my fico score is 632, as I am rebuilding from a bk discharged 9/12. Not sure what to expect. I also have alot of inquires from not really knowing what to do until I found this forum. Thanks again!
