So back in 2012 I was out of the country for a while and had my internet services with TWC turned off and I had to set a date for when they should be turned back on. Then towards the end of the call I told the CSR to push it back a little more and he didnt. When I get back I have a bill for $80 for services I didnt use. I told them I wasnt going to pay and switched companies. Since 2012 I've gotten calls from the collection agencies and I told them what happened and they would dispute it with TWC but TWC said the charges are valid. Fast forward to 2014, they put it on my credit report. I got tired with dealing with it and I offered to pay half of it but I told the CSR I wanted it off my credit report. I told her multiple times that I didnt want it listed as "paid" and I called in 30 minutes later to see if she made the note but of course she didnt. I've been going back and fourth again with them and they said they cant do anything since the account is old and has been cleared.
I put in a dispute through experian and hopefully that works. Is there anything else I could do ?
CRA policy is that a furnisher should not report deletion based on payment of the debt.
Thus, it is unlikely that the CRA will intervene and delete for a reason contrary to their policy.
You have an issue of private oral contract.
You can initiate civil action for breach of contract. Chances are good that they will not want to go to court, and will then delete their reporting.
TWC told me they do their own collections accounts. I ended up signing for the myfico credit monitoring and saw the company who reported it, I call them up and told them my story and they said they'd get it taken off. Thanks!
