Trying Some New Methods

I've been reading on here about the FCRA 609 and Goodwill Letters. I'm still rebuilding after my BK7 (Discharged 7/2014). So within this new journey I've decided to try both methods (at the same time of-course). I would love to have my IIB's and late payments removed even these PR's. Hopefully if all my research is correct I should see some deletions within the next 60 days (minimum). I'm persistant by nature so this should be fun wearing the CRA's down.Smiley LOL

FCRA

Yes FCRA 609; The Federal Law 15 U.S. Code § 1681g - Disclosures to consumers requires CRA’s to disclose the sources of information regarding the negative events that are being reported by them upon request by the consumer.

This federal law hold the CRA just as responsbile as the OC. The CRA must provide any comsumer with verifiable proof (i.e. original documentation of late payments, judgement petitions, BK petitions, credit applications w/signature etc.) upon written request. From what I have read through research the CRA's do not have this. All correspondence with the OC is done Electronically therefore with out having this documentation in their own files there is really no way for them to truly verify the information is valid.

Just a reminder, myFICO is not a credit repair organization.  We only allow the exchange of information on how to remove real errors from your credit report.  The suggestion of disputing accurate data in the hopes that the CRA will delete the derog will get your post deleted.

What's out of context here? I see the OP quoting FCRA regs. Not once has he mentioned ill purpose.

I am not in any way suggesting disputing accurate information. I am clearing stating by law that I and any other comsumer have the right to request that the CRA provide the documentation they used to verify the accuracy of the accounts. Doing this is fully legal.

Re: Trying Some New Methods

This is suppose to be a community that helps people. I feel that if there is information out there then people need to know. If there is a federal law that most people don't know about that can help keep the CRA's honest then hey I'm gonna put it out there. There is nothing wrong with using the law to make sure things are being done correctly.

Trying not to be the devil's advocate here....

It comes down to the spirit of the law, and the letter of the law.

As an educated consumer, affected by others' gathering, and reporting of your information, you have a "right to know," where you can question things, and challenge things accordingly.

The backside: the temptation to exploit, and persue this, as to gain benefit of manipulation by means of "frivilous disputes,""jackattacks," and "overwhelming" the data providers/reporters.
