I went through a divore in 04 and dropped from 820 to 495. Fast forward to 2010 and I started repairing my credit etc: Now I am a 700 with 4 remaining charge offs falling off by January 2016. My credit report will be clear of all negative information by January and I have piggybacked on my wifes credit and have currently a new 16 Silverado financed 4 months ago 3.2% a Green AMX card and a 7500 limit Wells Fargo CC. Since 2010 I have bought 4 new cars and all of them financed and paid on time. I now have 2 car payments , run under 10% on my CC's and pay them off in full every month. I am so close to realizing this dream of being back where I was in life that I am wanting advice as to how to raise my Credit Score up towards the 800 mark and the fastest way. Also what credit monitioring service is the best and cheapest way to go. I have looked at Equifax and Transunion score and report service however you cannot access Experian. I am wanting an inexpensive way to track my score and reports. Also , is being an authorized user on my wifes Capital One and other cards still helping my credit or not? Thank you very much and I am excited to have found this forum..
Experian Credit TRacker is the best. It updates as soon as a statement closes and reports to the CRA. You can try it for $1 for a one week trial. Then cancel before the week is out and they will offer you something like $9.99 monthly.
Thank you, does anyone else have any suggestions about how to continue to build to the 800 range? Thanks again for the response, I am extremely appreciative
Credit check total is daily ex fico score and ex report and tu and eq fico scores and reports three times monthly for those two. It's $1 a week trial, call and cancel and the automated system will offer five years at $15 a month. I just did it an hour ago.
Btw is it accurate that anything after 740 is just basically for bragging rights. Not dissing you at all, just curious?
The benefit of using either MyFico.com #B Report ($29.99/mth) or Experian Credit Tracker ($9.99/mth) is that you are able to simulate what your score will/would be based on different scenarios such as getting a new CC, paying down your CC balances by a certain amount, paying off your CC balances etc.
If you can afford either of those or Credit Check Total I would get it.
I believe a score of 760 not 740 gets you the best rates. But I'm sure a person with a 760 or 740 versus someone with a 816 or 830 get rates very close and CC limits fairly close to each other, you can imagine scenarios that scores in the 800 give you more than bragging rights, but actually slightly higher CL/SL/CLI and more negotiating possibilities and options.
It's like saying a student with a 3.50 or 3.60 GPA has the same bragging rights and options as the student with a 3.90 or 4.00 GPA. All have great GPAs, but not all have excellent and off the chart marks. A GPA from 3.90-4.00 would likely open doors that the other GPAs could not and can only dream about. The latter GPAs probably have a real chance for full scholarships etc.
Yes all are great scores and great GPAs, but the bragging is just one facet of the achievement. Don't full yourself!
If you have at least 3 CCs that report, have one of them report at 9% or less and the others at 0.
Keep each card under 9% and also under 9% total utilizations.
You already have the Installment loan covered if you have the auto loans.
Pay on time (or early) for everything.
You can ask for an early exclusion (EE) of your COs by calling TU at 6 months. Ex and EQ are tougher and they are more like 3 months early at best.
Being an AU on your wife's accounts helps with utilization (uti).
You can get another free opinion of your credit at credit karma, but keep in mind it isnt as accurate as tru Fico scores and they are called Fako scores.
And welcome to myFico!

Good point.
I forgot -
As your dates go forward, the lates that preceded your COs will drop off also, and that will improve your scores.
For instance, I had COs that occurred in 2008 and 09 and are not quite at the date for exclusion, like yours.
The exclusion will normally occur about 7 years from the date of first delinquincy (DOFD), but I had a 30, 60, 90, 120 lates preceding the CO. Even if the CO hasnt rolled off yet, one of the lates would be eligible, and that might give you a slight bump too.
Best results occur when the last lates and COs roll off, but I am happy for anything upward in my scores.
