Trying to get higher limit Capital 1 ...

Hi ... hoping to get some solid advice since the people on this forum seem to be pretty well-informed on everything credit!

My ch7 was discharged the beginning of September. I got an unsecured Cap 1 the following day for $500 and applied again in December receiving a 2nd card for $1000. I also got a Credit One in September for $500 which is now $700. I have been following the AZERO method paying in full and leaving 1 card with a small balance under 9%.

I burned pretty  much every major bank in my bankruptcy so getting approved has been difficult .. I know who to stay away from for the most part due to blacklisting which is why I have 2 Cap1 and had to get a Credit One.

I did try for Bank of America who I've never had but was declined and thought I needed a store card for credit mix so tried for a Saks since it's backed by Cap1 but again declined because I had that card in my bankruptcy.

I wanted to try to get a higher limit card and then just garden for a long while. I don't need it but for utilization purposes, I'd just like to have a higher card limit if possible. I've read Cap1 likes a lot of usage on their cards and that it's easier to get higher limits via  new app than credit limit increases.

I've been using my cards a lot and again applying the AZERO method but will not be using them so heavily after this month so I was wondering if I should go ahead and apply for the card now or wait a few months once I'm using them again more heavily. I also am trying to get my FICO up since it's a little lower than average it seems from my discharge date (I got a 24month self lender as well that hasn't reported yet).

Thanks for all the info you guys share on here it really is truly helpful. I can't believe I was so ignorant about credit before but I'm learning now!

I would not be applying for any new credit for 6 mo, at least. Let these two cards get some seasoning, and keep doing what you're doing. Go through your credit reports & make sure everything is accurate. I would focus on cleaning up your CRs as much as possible while your cards grow in the garden. With some careful, planned action you can get your scores up 50 points in about 4 months. GL!

I second Scooters advice. You got 3 cards and a installment. Let time do its thing now. You hit it lucky getting the cards so soon after DC. Next step 6-8 months from now following AZEO would be to give Disco a try on the preual site. Otherwise take care of what you got now and let those puppies grow your score. Dont rush it and please no app sprees.
