I have a collection reporting on my CR from 7/07. When I originally found out about it a year ago I attempted to call the number listed, it was out of service. I then disputed it with the EQ and received a letter saying the account was indeed valid and they verified it. How can I pay it (it has an $85 balance) and get it deleted if I 1). don't know who the OC is and 2). the CA has no address or phone number listed on my CR? The CR I used was from a LO so all info is on it.
Thanks
you should not be calling them at all. Get the address and send them a DV letter, and once you get the information on the account send them a PFD letter. Hopefully you will be able to get it removed after payment.
Do everything in writing. Do not call or speak to them in any other manner.
Thanks!! I did contact TU and they gave me the address and disputed the collection. I really have no idea what it's from but will attempt to get a PFD from them if possible.
Have you tried pulling your Free CR's from annualcreditreport.com?
These CR's come directly from the CRA's
What is the name of the CA on your CR?
Oh and did you only get the EQ CR from your LO?
This sounds like a medical collection. Does that help?
Contact the CRA for contact info, they should have it.
I would also see if the CA is on your other CR's.
Lightnin is correct - it is medical.
The reason it is reporting the way is because the CRA must mask medical information on reports released to anyone but directly to you. Even if you request the report through someplace like myFICO, it has to be masked.
When you pull your own report directly from the CRA, it will have all the information you need, unmasked.
