Congrats on the delete! I think Verizon is also trying to recoup early termination fees from my husband even though when we switched carriers, the new carrier was supposed to pay the early termination fee.
For everyone asking about Verizon collections, heres what I did.
I called their Credit Reporting department directly. I had to do this twice and was successful on the second call. I told them they needed to pull the phone recording for the day the service was placed for service. The first time I called the guy gave a generic response of "we record all new service order conversations and thats when customers give us verbal authorization for the contract" I explained a million times that I never agreed to a contract.
Called back the second time: The rep put it in for research for them to go pull the recording for verification.
Results: No recording found ---> Collections account removed completely. Now, I did owe them for a final bill and I ended up paying them $275 instead of the $880 they were trying to hit me with.
And just like that Verizon bites the dust. Hmmm...i'm tempted to try that, but my integrity fights me...+
PM the email please =]
I have tried unsuccessfully since 12/30 and no luck after hours on the phone w them. Pls PM me the contact info - appreciate it very much!
Congrats on cracking this very tough nut!
I've been trying to get rid of them for an entire year with no luck. Would you please PM me the contact info you used? TIA

I kept integrity the entire time. I had no problem paying the bill. I had a problem with them hitting me with service contract fees when I never had a contract. I still had the email confirmation from placing the order.
What saved me was keeping and maintaining DOCUMENTATION for just about everything. They couldn't argue with that. No integrity lost.
Here is an update.
The collection account dropped from EX and saw a nice increase of 22 points
Yet to see it drop from EQ and TU. Probably they are the slowest ones to update. EX was blazing fast.
Here is the email I sent them to make a goodwill adjustment.
To Whomever it may concern:
I have been a Verizon customer since September 2013. I have enjoyed my experience with Verizon greatly. I am writing to see if you would be willing to make a "goodwill" adjustment to your reporting to the three credit agencies. I have signed up for a two year contract but I had to move to Texas and disconnect the service as there was no Verizon service at my new place. But a few months later my credit report monitoring showed a collection account from Verizon for the amount of $101(early termination fees). There was not a single call or a final bill in my mail letting me know that I owe this amount to Verizon. Otherwise I would have made a payment. But I immediately called the number on the collection report and paid the balance in full upon agreeing verbally that this would be removed from my credit report after I make the payment.
I have paid the balance in full although I'm not entitled to pay any early termination fees as there was no Verizon service at my new place expecting that this would drop from my credit report. But the collection account is still showing up on my report.
sweeet! man i wish i could find some loophole, or something to benefit me. Mine is paid in full, i disputed with CRA's as obsolete, waiting on results. I'm hoping they don't repspond but knowing how verizon is, probably will. They haven't updated the account since 2014.
Wish i had been as smart as you!
