Verizon FIOS Collection Help

I'm pretty upset today.  I checked my CR and saw that Verizon had reported me to all 3 bureaus.  This is the result of a final bill after I cancelled FiOS.  I never received a bil...and in fact called Verizon to ask about this.  I guess this transferred me automatically to a company called CCA (which I guess is their collection agency).  They quoted me a price but I asked for something in writing, namely a bill.  I hadn't received anything, from them or Verizon, so I'm alarmed to see this being reported.  I'm not disputing that I owe this amount, but I would like this line removed.  Has anyone had any issues like this with Verizon?  Would they work with me on this?  I'm upset at how it all went down.  I'm nervous about this impacting my current cards, and more importantly my plans to purchase a home.  Any help is appreciated.

Re: Verizon FIOS Collection Help

Directly from Chat with Fios....could I use this as evidence of a pay for delete?  Even if they mark this as paid, how would that look since it's not a collection reporting but Verizon itself?

J (09:43:07): Ok, I would allow to next Friday to see. I'm providing you the documentation for the charges. I would want to see it too.

Me(09:43:18): okay

Me(09:43:41): So once I receive that and pay, is it possible to have this negative item removed?

J (09:44:36): It is done automatically, If you pay directly to the collections agency does speed that up by a few days, but honestly either us or them it will be removed.

Re: Verizon FIOS Collection Help

Verizon is one of the worst to deal with once its reached your CRs they basically refuse to remove the entry even when paid so I suggest you attempt the PFD (based on your never getting a bill) and when they refuse just pay them off to stop the monthly updating. Monthly updating of a derog account keeps your Fico score depressed you want it to age back in time.

Adding: I see there is  a CA involved, in this scenario you need to either call Verizon have them recall the CA and settle in full with Verizon or pay the CA in exchange for it not reporting.

Re: Verizon FIOS Collection Help

Good luck! Thats the only derog left on my CR Verizon Fios. The exact same thing happened to me. I turned in the boxes to Verizon, was told by the rep at the store that I didn't have a bill, went along my merry way. Checked my CR in August saw it listed. By that time it was in collections. I called Verizon last week to see if it could me recalled after months of trying for a PFD via letter campaign and phone campaign...no go! I just got to the point yesterday that I just called them up and paid the $87 bill. I'm going to email the CEO of DRS and ask for him for a possible delete. At this pint it's worth a shot...even though everything that I have read on him and the company it looks as if it's most likely not going to be granted.

Re: Verizon FIOS Collection Help

A reasonalble interpretation could be that they were stating that the negative item being removed is the status of the debt as unpaid.

I do not see a clear meeting of the minds that payment will result in their reporitng of deletion of the collection.

Additionallly, the creditor cannot agree to deletion of reporing made by another.

I see no enforceable PFD agreement.

Re: Verizon FIOS Collection Help

I paid my bill today, this happened to me this week as well. I was so disappointed they could have called or mailed me. I would have gladly paid them to avoid this as well. Spoke to a CSR today and they DO NOT PFD! Trust me, I tried my hardest and she told me "We do not PFD, we will update your CR to PAID once it has been paid but that is all", but I do have a payment receipt and since it's a new debt on my CR marked Nov 14, I should see a bump when they update. It stinks that I have to wait 6 years for it to drop off.  There should be a law mandating that everyone should be allowed at least 30 days prior to any adverse action regarding credit.   I hadn't heard a thing.

If you hear different, please PM me!!!!

I totally agree there should be a law for 30 days before they report. Were you able to find a solution, im dealing with the same situation.

Re: Verizon FIOS Collection Help

I'm not sure if this helps but I have a similar roblem with Verizon Wireless also collected by EOS-CAA.

Bill was paid as settlement for less than the original amount, which is the way they report it to the CRA's

I had no luck talking to any CSR's or trying to GW them but I wrote an email to an executive from the NorthEast region of VW, her assistant replied this morning that she will request her Recovery Department to notify all three CR's that my account has been satisfied.

I'm not sure how they will report it going forward but at least I got a little further than talking to the CSR's at VW. Hope this helps.
