HI all,
I subscribe to Zendough through Transunion's website, and I was just browsing my credit report. I purchased a comparison of the 3 CRA's, and noticed something odd this a.m. Back in 2005-2006 I fell behind on my car payments, and have two 30 day lates on my report. The weird thing is that all 3 are reporting different dates. One said Sept & Nov of '05, another said Oct & Dec of '05, and the other said Nov '05 and Jan '06.
Now, they are correct, and those lates should be there, but I'm just wondering what (if anything) can be done about the discrepancy? My car has been paid for since about June of '06, and I was with GMAC. This is not my oldest account, though it is my only auto loan, so should I GW GMAC and see if they'll remove the lates, or should I take some other action with the CRA's because of the date discrepancy? Thanks in advance!
Hi pipergirl71!
I think that the date discrepancy may actually have something to do with the was that the data lines up in the fields when you get a 3 report comparrison. I recall seeing the exact same type of discrepancy, a couple of years back on auto loan 30 day lates. If you look at your reports individually, pulled from each CRA, it will most likely show the exact dates correctly.
However, a solid goodwill campaign never hurts, and costs next to nothing, save for a little bit of time & the cost of postage. Good Luck!
I had something similar with a WFNNB account that was being reported by two OCs (LB account, has been handled by 3 banks so far). I had a late reporting on both for May 2008 on one report, June 2008 on another, and July 2008 on a third. I wrote to each CRA and said "hey, this is reporting from two OCs and there's a discrepancy about the dates of this late between the two and also there's a discrepancy across the CRAs, could you find out the real date". I also sent GWs to the OCs and said "hey, this isn't fair, and also it isn't accurate". The lates from both OCs are now gone off of all of my reports.
Alternatively, I have a student loan that was reporting late in one month on one CRA and the next month on the other two. I wrote to the OC on that and they said that it depended on when in the cycle it was updated with the CRA. That one remains as is.
