Weltman Weinberg Reis

Has anyone heard of these people?  I just opened my TU report and see that this collection agenecy did a HARD Inquiry yesterday.  Not sure why they did this but it may have to do with Portfolio Recovery (I sent a PFD to the CEO via email last week and once via fax).  What have i gotten myself into now!

Any info would be great.....

Re: Weltman Weinberg Reis

They are a JDB. You won't find anything positive about them on here, that's for sure.

It could be related. Seems like WWR collected for Portfolio in the past. Ready a DV and send it as soon as you get the letter.

Re: Weltman Weinberg Reis

Do you think that Portfolio would sell my account to these people or have them try to collect for them?  I am not trying to have to deal with yet another CA.  Why is credit repair so hard!!  not having a great day.  Finally realized that with my scores getting another car once my lease is up in July is moving further and further away from me!!!!!

I feel a migraine coming......

Did you ever have a chance to DV Portfolio?

yep, that is why I have been trying to PFD. no response so far. They did just update my TL to add an additional $10 to the bill.

I guess its another waiting game yet again. This account which was sold by BofA to Portfolio is my largest debt at just over 1G. I will pay it off and then GW if I have to just so I don't have to deal with any JDB.

Between Portfolio and LVNV these are my only unpaid collection accounts other than three HIPAA bills that i am just waiting for the cashier checks to clear from the OC's.

Re: Weltman Weinberg Reis

I personally would fight. WWR seems to collect on debts beyond CRTP and SOL. They could be unrelated. You may have to deal with them anyway.

My account was charged off in 2007 and sold to Portfolio last year so its well in SOL.  I will do what I can but its very stressful to have to deal with both Portfolio and LVNV but that happens to many trying to repair credit.

I will wait to see if I receive anything from them in the next few days...

Re: Weltman Weinberg Reis

Wait five days + 3 for mailing, for a dunning letter.

I am in the camp that believes that a CA does not have permissable purpose to place a hard INQ on your credit report. My camp likes to sue CAs who do. ;-) I'm also in the camp of using for leverage FDCPA violations to offset and delete a debt, or greatly reduce and delete a debt-- or to countersue a FDCPA violator would try to sue me.

Failure to send a dunning letter - $1000

Causing an inquiry that can be seen by others without permissable purpose - $1000

Getting a consumer attorney to file suit on your behalf, whereas they'll tack on ridiculously high fees... Priceless.

If these people are associated with Portfolio than I am really going to be unhappy.  Portfolio did a hard inquiry and so did two other CA's that fall under htem all within a few days of each other last year.  So ALL of my Inquiries on TU are from Portfolio.  I do not like the fact that they are doing HARD inquiries and will follow-up with them on this.  5 days +3 is ALL THEY ARE GETTING.
