What Next ?

So I wrote 3 Pay for Delete Letters 2 of the 3 collection companies I am disputing and 1 verification letter. NO RESPONSE. I sent off verification letters to the companies I sent Pay for Delete letters too and I received those from one.

Company 1 ) I got a letter from them saying :

"Pursuant to your correspondence/ phone call, you or your company are disputing your outstanding debt owed to our client listed above, but have not adequately supplied enough or any documentation to support your dispute. We cannot consider this matter resolved until you remit all documentation to support your claim. Mail documents or call office within ten days from date of letter to avoid further action......"

I called them, spoke to receptionist, who had no idea what information I was too send. I asked about the settlement letters, she said, The client will settle for 50%, but will not delete. I would have to pay the full amount , plus $250 to get it deleted off my credit report. See agreed to send all of these in written.

Question : CAN THEY DO THAT ? Do the burden of proof fall upon the consumer, if a validation letter is sent ?

Company 2) No response on verification letter. Called and they refuse to pay for delete, of $96.00 DOLLARS, because it was impossible to do it as the debt was too old and too small.

Question : IS that true ?

Company 3) Sent verification letter over 30 days ago, sent notice that if they do not respond or delete the debt, I would contact FTC, BBB and the Attorney General's Office for my state of FL..

The raised the amount from $850.00 to 1,050.00 on my credit report.

Question : Should I give up on this company and seek legal consul ?

I would like some advice, I am at wits end with these companies. Please advise.

What letter did you send? A DV or a dispute? You mention dispute above and validation here. It makes a difference.

Age and amount has no bearing on ability to delete, as far as I know.

Did you DV within 30 days of them contacting you? Is this beyond SOL? Have you contacted the BBB or AG?
