Re: What do I do with this new collection? Don't recognize OC.

That's right!  On myFico the dates listed are Date assigned Mar 07, Date reported June 08, Date last active Feb 07.  When I called, the first CSR told me the DOFD was Mar 98!  I told her that they weren't allowed to report this any longer and that's when she sent me to the supervisor.  BTW, I have not touched this thing since '98 until now when I paid.  If this doesn't come off, can I dispute and the CRA's will discover that the DOFD was Mar 98?  The supervisor I spoke with said they got a bunch of collections from another collection company (Valorem LLC) and are now discovering that company had been reporting things incorrectly.  I also read somewhere else on this forum that someone called the CRA's and gave the name and number of the person who agreed to delete.  The CRA proceeded to call the CA and verify right then and there.  I am really hoping this thing just comes off by Monday.

Did you dispute as "obsolete?" I sure as *bleepity*bleep*bleep* would!!! Smiley Mad

That's just ridiculous!! I'd think (and I'm just angry on your behalf here) that something like that would be worth a lawsuit!!!

I just can't believe that someone at the CRA didn't see that and take it off. Smiley Mad

Thank you!  What I am worried about is what if they didn't report the DOFD to the CRA, or if they did, they gave them a bogus one.  But if they reported a bogus one, then why would the CSR at the CA tell me they have it in their computer as Mar 98?  Just begging for a lawsuit?  I was planning on checking my scores before I submitted my loan app on Monday, but I might check one sometime this weekend just to see if this darn thing has come off yet.

Personally, I'd think it'd be worth a call to the CRA(s). You might get it deleted with just a 15 minute phone call. At the very least, I don't see how it would hurt.

Have you contacted the CRA(s) at all? If you already addressed this in your previous posts, please forgive me! My poor ol' eyes aren't what they used to be!!

Forgot to mention: You can't ALWAYS trust the system to work. I have an old Sears card that was charged off in '98 and it's STILL reporting.

Even weirder? It's reporting as a POSITIVE account. No lates and no hint of CO status -- just says "Transferred/closed."

My Montgomery Wards and Macy's Card are also reporting like that.  Strange, isn't it?  But I like it because the Macy's card is my oldest account Smiley Very Happy

Call EXP. I really don't see what you have to LOSE and I see oodles to GAIN!

If they don't tell you a definitive answer, ask them what you need to give them to make it happen, Cap'n. Then go back to the CA (if necessary) and DV their stupid butts. Make them prove that you owe this stupid debt, and then turn around and provide those documents to the CRA!!

Re: What do I do with this new collection? Don't recognize OC.

Forgot to say: I'll bet it's just a simple, stupid case of a glitch in the system. Once you call and point out the obvious (Um ... Hell-oooooo ... 1998??), I'll bet they'll have the durn thing off before the line goes dead.

Really, I think it's a boo-boo rather than a legitimate or valid entry. I think a call would just take care of it. Far sooner than the CA would, anyway!!

Nobody is open on the weekends, right?  I will probably do this on Monday if nothing has updated.  Thanks so much for your support, new best friend Smiley Very Happy
