What the next step I should take? (Capital One)

I had a charged off account with Capital One that was being handled by Portfolio Recovery. I called them today and made a payment to settle the account for $234. I have a card indirectly with them with Kohls but when I do a pre-approval I get denied. Does me paying the debt with Portfolio Recovery make me become un-blacklisted with Capital One or am I banned permanently with them. I called the reconsideration line and they said there is no way I can submit a receipt of proof of payment to them. What should I do?

it's possible cap1 sold the debt off entirely, so they would have no idea you paid portfolio and paying them has no impact at all if they will let you back in or not

in 30-90 days, the collection from portfolio should disappear and your credit should improve to some extent

just keep trying the pre-approval, you could be banned from new cap1 cards for a year, less, forever, there's no way to know.

The account was never on my credit reports so basically I didn't even need to pay them because the said they wasn't going to sue me anyways. Dang... I mean I owe money regardless but I kind of didn't need to pay really tho right?
