When trying for EE, can I keep trying?

I have an old auto loan that went to a charge-off state and was a repo. This was 7 years ago and the account is set to be deleted off my report this year. I called TransUnion and within 2 minutes they deleted it with no problem and my credit score updated in 20 mins!!

I then called Experian as they usually delete within 3 months from what I have read and they told me they cant do it and to call back in Sept!! The account shows on my credit report to fall off in Oct 2019 anyhow so I thought this was nuts! I called back about a week later and that person told me it isnt set to fall off until March 2020 which is completely different than what my credit report states.

As I said, TransUnion deleted it with no hassle at all and then I got 2 different answers from 2 different people at Experian....So, Can I basically just keep calling every week? Anything I should do different?

A lot of people avoid EE with Experian but its up to you what you want to do. I would wait until September or try again next month but if you want to go week by week its your report.

Re: When trying for EE, can I keep trying?

I've personally never had a problem requesting an EE with EX. I would suggest calling back and asking to speak to a supervisor. I always get conflicting info when I talk to the front line CSR's and they always tell me they can't delete things early, which we all know isn't true. I've gotten multiple accounts deleted early with Experian.

I think I've found the sacred map that may lead me to this garden everyone keeps talking about.

Re: When trying for EE, can I keep trying?

So, just as another piece of advice, after I got bomped with EX (and yes, I spoke with a supervisor) -

I wrote my original creditor and charge-off people - and asked them for help clarifying the issue with EX.   I think some people run into the fact that the date on EX's report already has the three months built into it - but it wasn't in my case.

While asking *very nicely* for help dealing with EX, I apologized for failing in my monetary responsibilities, thanked them for their patience, asked them if they could help me with EX or, hey, maybe just go ahead and delete the tradelines themselves since they were so old.

One of my account holders (a student loan servicer) deleted the tradeline. The other one wrote me a letter saying they would not delete the tradeline, but would supply corrected information.   My DOFD got fixed there but I then got a (slightly less) early exclusion, so I'm not sure what triggered that, but it worked on some level.

I recommend against early exclusions unless you really need them (like a major loan app), but I was so angry about EX, I decided to try an end run around and it worked.  Maybe something like that could work for you?

Re: When trying for EE, can I keep trying?

Well I really need this account deleted. It's been 7 years and TransUnion had no issue with deleting it. If the date on the credit report already has a "Built In" 3 months from the drop off date, then that would mean TransUnion deleted this item about 8 months early. Doesn't make any sense to me....

Does Experian handle their EE's via a Dispute Dept or Supervisor?

Though a Supervisor - you need to call it and request one.     Keep requesting one til the CSR gives you one (sometimes they try to "help" - don't let them help with any other than a transfer to a supervisor).
