So I started rebuilding my credit back in July. All my scores were in the low to mid 500's. Now my Ficos are Experian- 653, Equifax- 615, Transunion- 568.
My best report is Experian with 9 baddies. The other two have 10 and 12 baddies. Utl is 12-13% on all 3.
Current cards are:
NFCU 1000.00 limit
Discover 1000.00 limit
Merrick Bank 1150.00 limit
Capital One Quicksilver 300.00 limit but will be 500.00 next month
Capital One Buypower 500.00 (I think this is in the bucket as I've never had a cli in the 3 years I have had it)
Mission Lane 500.00 but should be getting a CLI in a month or two
Overstock and Wayfair both 1550.00 limits
Victoria Secret 300.00 limit
I do have 12-14 inquiries across all 3 credit reports with 6-8 of them being the last 6 months. My plan is to not apply for anything for 6 to 8 months (end of April will be one month) and once Discover and NFCU all become one-year old/12 statements old apply for 2nd cards with them.
I also want to close the Buypower when the Quicksilver is one year old and get a 2nd Captial one card that wont be in the bucket.
All the charge offs\collections at this point are roughly 2 years old. But I am paying them with a pay for delete settlements or paying them and then disputing (been 100% successful with this so far). I am paying them because I am in line for a security clearance and they need to be either paid or in a payment plan.
How does my plan look? What do you suggest? I want to be at least at 700 or 720 buy the end of this year.
Outside of that a 3 year auto loan that has never been late
First you have to fix the baddies. If you can list them out. Then we can help you see if you have any that PFD or any other way to get them fixed. Applying for more credit can wait till the baddies are addressed. One thing about credit. The bad outweighs the good. Getting more credit doesnt erase the point loss from the dings.
Thanks for that tid bit. I have been working HARD and getting these negative items off my reports. I have been paying them off little by little. I CANNOT wait until i have clean reports. Probably will take another year and a half to two years at this rate but I def see light at the end of the tunnel. If I am sitting at 650 with all the negative items it gives me hope for what my scores will look like 2 years from now with 2 more years of ontie payments, CLI's and all the negative items gone. I should be sitting pretty.

Just curious...after you pay, what are you disputing? You mention 100% success thus far.
I just say something to the effect that CA or creditor agreed to delete entry upon getting payment. I usually include a copy of the original settlement letter and a copy of the paid in full letter along with the dispute.
Now maybe they was going to delete anyhow even without my dispute, IDK but I know each time I have done it it has worked out.

I am in a very similar boat... but aren't we all. I'm tirelessly working at improving my scores though after 3 years thenprogress is incredibly slow. I'm VERY curious on your tactics for the above. I have a closed Discover & charged-odd Chase that I've teied to PFD or Pay for goodwill laye deletes with no avail. I finally just made a regular pymt plan to pay off the closed Discover Card & still pondering how to re-tackle chase.
Hate to hijack your post but would love some input.
@financialfreedom777 You have a better chance at getting hit by lightning on a golf course during a thunderstorm than Chase doing a GW. Its almost unseen on the boards. Disco is almost as bad. Very rare.
@FireMedic1 Most depressing yet funniest comment yet 🤣

Well in a way its true. Tried to put it in a comical way. You could probably send them a Neurologists' report signed by the Doc on his letterhead that you were in a coma for a month. Thats why you were late. Sorry cant help you. ![]()
