My guess is that your Experian is showing that something happened in September 2008--something like showing that it's (still) a collection account. Fico reads it as a new collection account or whatever it is.
If that is the case, then good luck. It's basically a glitch in how fico reads the data from Experian. I am very familiar with this vicious cycle. Experian swears up and down that it is not showing a late payment, so they can't fix it. FICO swears that it doesn't report information, it only can deal with the information that it is given from the credit bureaus.
I had the same situation with Equifax, and EQ eventually fixed it once I got my state attorney general involved. For me, EX is still claiming that it is not reporting what fico says it is reporting. So I've had to go back to the OC, who says they haven't reported anything to any credit bureau in years. Hopefully (with the help my AG), the OC can force EX to fix, which will then fix the fico problem. Honestly, it makes me batshark crazy that what is basically a software glitch between these conglomerates penalizes me, and everyone claims that it's not their fault.
So what does your Experian report show happened in September 2008?

I have had the same problem between myfico reports and the CRA reports. What I've determined is that what the CRA's have on their credit reports is what you have to go after, or the original creditor. MYFICO creates scores for a living.
