Hello. I started to rebuild a couple of months ago. I started using Credit Karma and also the Experian app. I also get a score through CreditWise on my auto loan app.
My issue is I'm getting huge variances in scores. I got approved for a credit card and my score for both TransUnion and Equifax dropped 86 points when it updated. However my Experian went up 46 points.
So I paid for the other two bureaus through the Experian app and they are all three a 100+ points higher than both Credit Karma and CreditWise. So I'm confused about which one to believe. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
The Experian app provides your FICO scores - these are the ones used by the majority of lenders so they are the ones with which you should concern yourself.
Credit Karma, CreditWise, and Transunion offer Vantage 3 scores which are used by very, very few lenders (Synchrony is the only known one and they use Vantage 4, not 3). Vantage and FICO vary greatly in how they weigh aspects of your credit report and how they respond to changes to your credit profile. A 100 point difference between the two models is quite common. Credit Karma is great for reviewing the content of your reports - but don't worry about the scores provided.
Equifax offers their own Equifax scoring model which absolutely no lender uses.
Welcome to the forums!
Ok great. That's what I was hoping to hear! My Experian had gone up almost 70 points in the last month. So I was hoping that was more accurate. I appreciate the response and information. Thank you.

YW and congrats on the score increase!!
Also - just an FYI - there are a total of 28 different versions of FICO (incl. FICO 8, FICO 9, FICO Auto, FICO Bankcard, FICO Mortgage industries). So if you have a creditor that says they offer a free FICO score monthly and it doesn't match the FICO 8 scores you're seeing on the Experian app - that means it's one of the other FICO models - if you read the small print or FAQs under the score, it should tell you which one.
Your Experian service gives you all of the Experian versions of FICO, except FICO9. But it only provides FICO8 for Equifax and Transunion.
The only place to see all 28 scores is at myFICO... or credit.com's ExtraCredit service (ExtraCredit is new - i havent tried this one yet but hear it's good).
But most lenders are using FICO8 - tho FICO9 is gaining steam.
Oh wow ok. That's very helpful. I really appreciate the education.
