My scores are currently average 648, one of the things that needs improvement is my payment history. I currently have 7 baddies. A paid repossession (Cap1 Auto), a paid/closed account at a furniture store (120 day late) and the remaining are Student Loans that were previously in default. I will be sending out a GW letter for the account at the furniture store this month. I think it has the best change of getting the baddie removed. The Student Loans & Cap1, probably not. My payment history is 100% on my current cards, rehabbed student loan & an account at the furniture mentioned above. I'm curious if getting SSL loan will help the payment history. My thought process is another loan with 100% payment history could help bost my score. Thanks for any feedback you can provide.
You already have student loans which are considered installment loans. So no need for another loan. Its always best to fix the baddies first. Then that will lead to better credit when you apply because the bad can change to good. Payment %'s really dont mean anything. Either your late or pay on time. Good Luck!
+1 what @FireMedic1 said.
Since you mentioned payment history percentage I'm guessing you're looking at a website like Credit Karma. If so, it would be beneficial to get your actual FICO scores. In the FICO scoring world payment history is binary; you are either 100% on time or you're delinquent and incur the penalty

@AnonymousI'm looking at the myFICO app and it says my Experian payment history as Good, Equifax is Fair and TU is Poor. I'm just looking for a way to improve this area. I know as time goes this number will improve. I know i'm facing an uphill battle with getting Cap1 & the Student Loan Derogs removed.
@Anonymous Yeah, but that's just the data "prettied up" by the CMS software (BrutalBodyShots calls is "fluff") It has no bearing on your FICO score. In really FICO only cares whether you have made on-time payments 100% of the time.
