Whats a factoring account
factoring companies buy debts that are not in default. Junk debt buyers buy debts that are already in default.
PRA is a junk debt collector so they are misrepresenting themselves which is skirting the FDCPA!
No they don't really work with people in deleting after receiving payment, I've never spoke with them to do this, but I have read. They are on my husband's report twice and on mine once.
I did a complaint with the CFPB to get something done about it.

The point I guess for them is to get ppl to pay without deletions. I guess they are hoping most people dont know they can pfd, or attempt to.
Yep you got that right! These collection agencies think most of us are not smart enough to look up laws and know our rights! LOL
My understanding is that PFDs are rare for PRA, but not impossible. I've read a handful of posts from people who were able to do it, but it sounds like they were relentless and it took several attempts. I also read one person's account that mentioned dealing directly with their attorneys rather than the desk monkeys who answer the phone. Apparently, attorneys are much more inclined to negotiate. I'm going to try to go dig one of their eleventy-billion settlement offers out of the mail pile to se eif there are law offices listed.
I managed to get all of my collections removed and my scores changed drastically.
I have the same question on factoring accounts. I have a Collector reporting as Collection service on Transunion and Experian but its listed as Factoring account on Equifax. Not sure what this means?
smoop88 - were those with Portfolio? How were you successful?
Thanks!
I would appreciate any assistance from anyone who's been sucecssful. I sent PFDs yesterday to multiple emails addresses. The PRA Ombudsman replied with a standard "we're not allowed to do that" letter, so I'm not sure what to try next. When people do this, do they just keep sending the same request over and over? Are there different approaches? Specific language that seems to get them to the table? I'm flying blind here.
