Wrong dates from CA?!

So maybe I'm not suppose to dispute with Experian's online service, but I did anyways.  It came back like 3 days later with verifications by the CA with dates of 02/2022.... Um, this is 4 years old NOT 2 months old!!! It makes it look brand-spanking new when it's not.  All the way at the bottom is states Date of Discharge: Feb 2025.  Plus, I'm not trying to PFD or anything... it's $8k.  Nobody got time for that!

So let me ask the obvious... WHAT DO I DO?

The OC is still on my reports and now I have a CA with the same debt.  Can they list twice like that?  Can I dispute another way?

HELP ME?!?! Please and thank you. :-)

There are several dates associated with collection accounts

Date opened: the date the CA got collection authority

Date last reported/updated: the date the last time the CA was updated, when you dispute a CA this date WILL ALWAYS change and this is where a CA account looks like a "fresh" CA to the scoring algorithm.

Date of first default: this date is set and is transferred from the OC.

Which date are you referring to?

To answer your other question, yes the OC and a CA can be on your reports at the same time.

So it reads...

Date opened: 1/27/22

Date of last update: 4/7/22

It shows 2 months of CO on payment history.

Date of discharge: 2/2025 (4yrs, 2months old)

FYI... I was wrong, the OC is gone.

I guess I should just chill the hell out then...  What can I do really?  Can I do an old fashioned manual dispute and hope they foul it all up so it gets dropped?  Shrugs.

Since they just validate the information the odds of them not responding to a second dispute is near 0 especially as this is unpaid and may or may not be in SOL for legal action.

Dang.  I have about $23k in bad debt stretched across 4 collections.  3 of them fall off in a year or less.  So I'm super stoked about that, but this last one has further to go.  The $8k was for an old apartment lease in FL.  Now that I think about it... I only owe for 2 months since I cancelled the lease, so more like $3k NOT $8k.  The $ amount sounds super iffy now....hmm?

My go to has always been to pester the hell out of them until their like "fine! go away!"  I may just do that since they're coming up against the SOL for a written contract in FL.

Just a word of caution, if the SOL is not expired "pestering the hell out of them" could result in them filling a lawsuit instead of "forgetting" about an 8k debt.

True.  I may let it go until the end of the year and then hit'em again.  In the meantime, I'm putting in the work to make a strong comeback.  I HATE debt, I HATE not having great credit... but you need a balance of both in this life.  I don't like owing anyone anything.  This is the 2nd time I've had to make a credit comeback, but the game has changed in the last 17years.  Hell, MYFico.com was in it's infancy back then.  Creditboards.com was the place to be.

Thanks for everything my friend!
