a question about bad checks...

Hi there!  I have tried skimming to find this answer but have not yet...when is the DOLA for a bad check on a CR?  It has been paid, and date opened is in 2004 by Ca, but is that the DOLA?  Shouldn't it be the date it was written or posted to account or something like that?  Can't seem to get far with disputing with either CA or CRA and quite frankly, not sure I have copy of check without going to bank, but will do that if required to get this off eventually here.  Thanks, you guys are the best!

Re: a question about bad checks...

If you are trying to determine when the account will be removed, it is 7-7.5 years from the DOFD. DOFD for a bad check would be date written, IMO.

Re: a question about bad checks...

Don't forget that your bad check(s) will also be reported to ChexSystems and the information stays for 5 years. Chexsystems is usually used when you apply for a new bank account. They provide the information about your past check history to the bank inquiring. They do not allow or deny a bank account but simply provide the information.  You may request a copy at https://www.consumerdebit.com/consumerinfo/us/en/chexsystems/report/index.htm
