Re: beware of collection accounts reporting as a Open TYPE Tradeline

I have learned to rely only, on the printed reports. I subscribe to all 3 CRA monitoring services and just from my own experience, will say what I see online does not equal what is in the printed reports for trans union and experian most of the time if not all, and equifax some of the time.

As an example. Experian dispute department will tell you to go to experian.com/viewreport with the report number to truly see its contents (Online view)

In my technical experience, it's because of the views or a layer of filter they put on the data that is displayed to u on each site.

I would look at a printed version and check the status, as ONLY 2 statuses are allowed, and start there.

Re: beware of collection accounts reporting as a Open TYPE Tradeline - Added Text From my CR

Just for Kicks - I signed into Quizzle to get my report. Here is what it says for Asset Acceptance --- almost similiar to your account.  It doesnt show too much information, plus  their fields do NOT always map to the Standard METRO2 CRA Standard File Format.

  • Account Type: Factoring Company Account (debt buyer)
  • Amount Past Due: --
  • Scheduled Payment: --
  • Owner: Individual
  • Opened Date: Sep 27, 2011
  • Closed Status: --
  • Original Balance: $2,064
  • Original Creditor: BANK OF AMERICA
  • Creditor Type: Retail
  • Account in Dispute No

Almost the exact same thing as your account --- but, in Equifax's report - I see something totally different. The Status, can/should only ever be

1. 62 – Account paid in full, was a collection account.

2. 93 – Account seriously past due and/or assigned to internal or external collections.

In Equifax --- its COLLECTION ACCOUNT, which is reserved for Credit Grantors.

The Record is inserted in the OTHER account section of my report.

1. They List themselves as a RETAIL Creditor Classification.

2. The dates dont line up at all with BOA, but for maximum effect they inserted dates I cant see - and those that I can make it appear as though the COLLECTION status is current.

3. We (AA and I) went to court and resolved the actual amount due - vs. payment negotiation on a false balance, I PIF - the actual balance that was due.

Because of the way that this is reporting and because you and I see balance - we think its paid in full. Well - because AA send a "0" balance - I think its tricking/massaging what we as consumers think we see - a PIF account, when in reality - this one stores a balance in the background - and a late payment status of over 120 days, see details below.

4. In Equifax - there is no closed date --- so, it looks and rates as if - I have this open line of credit with this outfit.

It gets a little better actually - when I open an ALERT through my membership with EQ - I get some more crazy details that simply arent true, and - I only get to see this when something changes on this record specifically. Otherwise data in this segment of their system - is hidden. It says---- my account is still - past due. There is no CLOSED date and they reported this on 6/1/2015.

Thats why you don't see any DoFD. Third parties like Quizzle, Credit Karma, Credit Sesame, Credit.com, MyFICO, etc., all strip out the DoFDs and estimated drop dates from the reports. To get that data you need to pull your full free reports from annualcreditreport.com - you get one free report from each bureau annually, and it will show the DoFD or estimated drop off date for collections and charge offs.

Re: beware of collection accounts reporting as a Open TYPE Tradeline

Third party companies, and CRA's as well - will mask/translate data online.

TransUnion and Experian do not show full account detail - and in fact sometimes translate data so badly, it looks false.

Example - Bank of America through Experian's  Direct Product Online vs. Bank Of America Actual Experian Report

Re: beware of collection accounts reporting as a Open TYPE Tradeline

Oh and another view - just brain candy this time.

Depending on which CRA pulls all 3 files - those collection details come even more convoluted and incorrect - in this instance --- Asset Acceptance has an installment account with me and since 09' in which they have reported a CHARGE OFF on for more time than this account ever really existed, and they are OPEN................................

While innacurate - they help expose the type of shenanigans I am talking about.

Re: beware of collection accounts reporting as a Open TYPE Tradeline

Updated - Mind Candy for lunch today.

ONLY Valid 3 Account Type Codes, based on Metro2 File Format specs gathered online , that should be sent to any CRA, Drom a Deb Collector/Purchaser - CDIA guidlines. CDIA is the Consumer Data Industry Association, that manages, for lack of better words,  the METRO2 File details.

·    48 — Collection Agency/Attorney
·    77 — Returned Check
·    0C — Factoring Company Account (includes Debt Purchasers)
