I believe I have the same issue and was thinking it was reporting incorrectly because it reports to my revolving tradeline area instead of in collections -- I've actually PAID it off and am waiting for them to update it to PAID because they update the account monthly as past due and it's killing my score.

Here is a pic of how my Verizon collection reports.Smiley Mad   I'm interested in the outcome of your dispute... I wonder if I can get the reporting fixed... or better yet deleted for inaccurate reporting because Verizon would not do a PFD and from what I've read, I'm not going to have any luck with GW request either.

Verizon is reporting mine this way too. They put my account in collection when I closed it and paid them off, then they added charges (bastards!). Never knew about subsequent charges because I moved around the same time. I've since paid them off, but they are showing me with like 7 years of on-time payments, but the status is PAID COLLECTION. The account does not appear under collections but shows in the revolving section as well.

Re: beware of collection accounts reporting as a Open TYPE Tradeline

I believe there is a difference in what an Original Creditor - in this case Verizon, and a Debt Collection Agency can report in the METRO2 file, and then to CRA -

I am in no way an attorney, or recommended/ing any legal steps - but Verizon is saying that your account with them directly is overdue, as an Original Creditor - is this innacurate of them?

For my scenario - its speaking to the Debt Collection Companies only.

I am in no way an expert, at leat not yet - but, someone in the community may help confirm what the state of this means.

Denial is the first step ---what they havent addresed is their reposibility to FIX these data issues, instead they blame it on the CRA's - not done yet

Re: beware of collection accounts reporting as a Open TYPE Tradeline

The bf is dealing with a Portfolio dispute right now, filed dispute of Portfolio collection account for how it was being reported and EQ disputed the Cap1 tradeline rather than the Portfolio.  I swear it's either a game to them or complete incompetence and most probably a combination of the two

Re: beware of collection accounts reporting as a Open TYPE Tradeline

I think its a combo - but, ignorance cannot be an excuse, Sadly, like a moth to a flame I am not going away,

The CRA's have replied, the item is still in dispute with all of them -  but --- I took the time over the last few days and laid out specifically to the CRA - how they do it.

I did respond to the CFBP that they should pull the METRO2 formatted file that AALLC have already sent to the CRA's - and look at the raw historical data itself -- as thats the proof.

Next step is file - suit. I could use some retirment money lol --- and all of them are making it easy. Discovery in any lawsuit will flush this out to the open --- and I am ready for the ride.

Re: Beware of collections (NOT OC) showing up on Credit Reports as a OPEN Credit Type - Part 2

@dudedudedude wrote:

Midland Funding is doing this to me. I sent them a DV and they updated the account and the listing moved to the other accounts section of my report. It is a Tmobile account; I've sent a complaint to CFPB re: cramming, but if it is not removed I am tying to develop a plan of action to stop it from reporting in this manner. Thus far I've found very little information on the boards on whether or not this is legal. I'm going to be keeping my eye on this thread to see how this resolves for you. I think with enough complaints to FTC, CFPB this will become widely known. Seems like a new tactic and it needs to be in the spotlight.

Update:

Well Midland Funding, just removed it from my EX and TU report due to my cramming CFPB complaint. I expect EQ to come off this week as well. Subsequently, I no longer have the collection reporting as an other account issue.

Midland funding is showing as a factoring company account that is open on my transunion report. On my equifax report it shows as an open account and type of account is debt buyer account. This was a wal mart credit card.

Re: Beware of collections (NOT OC) showing up on Credit Reports as a OPEN Credit Type - Part 2

You should copy and paste the account details to make it easier to confirm what you see.

Update from Equifax - appears as though Eq is tryng to fix/update the OC account, but ---- the changes are so innacurate it made my score drop 60 points, in a single day. Note the Date reported date - and the CO in March of 2015,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,***sigh

Someone said its ignorance and inept staff - I agree.
