Re: beware of collection accounts reporting as a Open TYPE Tradeline

I'm glad I came across this! On my credit report its shows charge off account in open status! How can a charge off be open??? Sounds contradicting! I've sent letters and disputes and no resolution! It says updated with the same exact info. I just filed BBB and CFPB. I hope that works!

Re: beware of collection accounts reporting as a Open TYPE Tradeline

Hi wifey2, it's the combination of data that is the problem....start with the printed version of your reports, Equifax is the easiest one to use to see if there is a problem reporting the collections.

They MUST be under the collections segment of the file.....and cannot be reporting anywhere else.

Share what you see....and I will be glad to share what I now know for sure.

Re: Beware of collections (NOT OC) showing up on Credit Reports as a OPEN Credit Type - Part 2

Midland Funding is doing this to me. I sent them a DV and they updated the account and the listing moved to the other accounts section of my report. It is a Tmobile account; I've sent a complaint to CFPB re: cramming, but if it is not removed I am tying to develop a plan of action to stop it from reporting in this manner. Thus far I've found very little information on the boards on whether or not this is legal. I'm going to be keeping my eye on this thread to see how this resolves for you. I think with enough complaints to FTC, CFPB this will become widely known. Seems like a new tactic and it needs to be in the spotlight.

Update:

Well Midland Funding, just removed it from my EX and TU report due to my cramming CFPB complaint. I expect EQ to come off this week as well. Subsequently, I no longer have the collection reporting as an other account issue.

Are you able to PM me an example of your CFPB complaint (minus your personal information)? I have this same issue of collections reporting as other accounts.

Re: Beware of collections (NOT OC) showing up on Credit Reports as a OPEN Credit Type - Part 2

If you google Sample Equifax Report - and select from the results the 3rd or fourth link at .gov, a Equifax created report is presented......on Page 20.....is what EQ says that a collection is supposed to look like ----- I bet almost no one, has it reporting this way.......and this is for a DEBT COLLECTOR only......................

Knowledge is free.....have a great week.

Midland Credit (one of this scumbag agency's many names) is notorious for reporting a collection one month and then pulling it out of collections and reporting it as an open tradeline as if it's a loan. Any scummy dirty thing they can do to increase the damage on people.
They did this me for years until a month or so ago they sent me a letter saying that they would no longer report the debt due to it's age and they wouldnt sue me for it due to the amount being so low.

..but for years they really screwed me. I wish I could punch Mr Midland in the mouth. They are the worst.
