@bluefoxing wrote:My husband applied for a Fingerhut credit. He was approved for a FreshStart credit limit of $230 with $30 down. Once the balance is PIF the card with auto-graduate to a revolving credit account. We decided we wanted a new bed set and put it on the card. Once we get the card, we'll ad me as authorized user. Once we get the first statement, we'll pay it off in full and then probably not use the card going forward.
So now between us both we have $2530 in new credit tradelines open. Now we'll sit and wait and keep low balances. I'm sure all the new open accounts will sting a bit at first.
I didnt know you could do authorized users on fingerhut. I also didn't know they issue an actual card.

Oops... the card thing was meant for Credit One.
Otherwise...yes, you can be added as a authorized user to Fingerhut accounts. I was on my father's for many years until it was closed for not being used.
If you are an AU on Fingerhut, does it report?
Another setback today.
I received a letter from Chase. I had a 9 year old charge-off still reporting on my credit and I sent them a goodwill letter.
In response, they sent me nothing but a bunch of old credit card statements and completely ignored my letter. I called them - and they told me the account was opened in 2005, and reported as a charge off in 2009 (4 years later?) and that they can continue to report it because it has to be 7 years from 2009, even though the account was closed and in collections as of 2007. It even says on the statement that it will be written off as bad debt.

Noticed you said you had credit one..... If you call and say as a courtesy for having your card, can you waive the annual fees and they they should waive for the next 6 months, then repeat the process. Express pay charges $9.99 but if you ask for a one time courtesy and you'll pay above the minimum due they'll waive that too. Then repeat.
Thanks for that tip! I will try that.
I don't have the Credit One card in hand yet. Was just approved two days ago.
Called First Progress today to validate my identity. Was informed that I was approved and would receive my cards in the mail in 7-10 days. One has a $300 limit and the other has a $1,000 limit. I now have $2500 in available credit, halfway to my $5,000 goal in just two weeks!
Try a secured card with OpenSky. No denials and they report to all 3 ![]()
Capital One card arrived today. Added myself as an authorized user and had a card sent to myself. Promptly moved the Netflix subscription that auto-drafts from our bank account to be charged to this card each month. $8 on a $300 limit. Should keep utilization down and start a good tradeline.
Within the papers sent, it says in 5 months of faithful payments, the limit will be automatically increased.
