pulled my fico score on 10/23 and it was at 580. would have been in the 620-640 range, but i maxed out my overdraft protection line of credit when i went back to work and had to wait 2 weeks for my 1st paycheck. had recently paid in full a midland CA reporting as an open account on equifax. when i pulled my score again today, since i had paid of the line of credit, thinking i would see a big score gain, my score had dropped to 569.
i looked at both reports and the summary from 10/23 shows one 90 day late 1 1/2 years ago, the report today 10/31 showed 1 90 day 2 months ago.
both reports show midland as paid in full, and all of the dates are the same. nothing else has changed on the reports, only the summary info fico shows.
real bummer. was looking towards a positive gain only to loose even more.
i guess all i can do now, is dispute with equifax that midland cant legally report as an account that is open with lates.
nothing better than a nice monthly reminder of the mistakes ive made in the past.
i did notice 2 differences in the statement part of this account. i had disputed the account online with equifax when i 1st pulled my credit report from their site. after it was validated, it said account disputed by consumer. that was months after the dispute had been completed. on my new report it says under investigation, because i had mailed a dispute to equifax showing the account was being reported illegally as an open account with a 120 day late as of august, when the accounts 1st dofd was back in 2006.
i guess for the last few months when i pulled my score, fico wasnt including the midland collection in its factoring, since the 90 plus late as of august 09 was not showing in the summary of last time i missed a payment, since it shows 1 1/2 years ago. now thats its under investigation, it must be factoring it in. i wonder if the validate, and refuse to remove it, if it will go back to factoring like it did before. i can only hope
i was able to get consumer relations person to contact me. she never said a thing about deleting the trade lines, but is working to figure out why equifax is reporting the collection as an open account. seems since midland entered it that way, then they should already know. but she did say they would have it reported correctly. id rather have it deleted, i have 4 paid med collections that will fall off within the same time as this one, so having it coded as a collection and not an account will actually help me in this situation if a delete is not offered.
