cap one co deleted from equifax unexpectedly

capital one charge off was sold to portfollio recovery in July,  was updated to zero in august, and now is deleted from equifax, do you think this is to just update to more correct information and be added back later right?

I did not send off GW letter or even pay PRA yet, so cant be gone for good?

This happen to anyone else? Any thoughts as to why its only one CRA?

Same thing happened to my Cap One Neiman Marcus card. Miraculously deleted back in May’ish and I pray it never returns.

The same thing happened with my Citibank-backed Sears MasterCard. Perhaps the account was sold to a new collections agency. YMMV. Smiley Happy

Yes. Collection authority may have been sold to another collection agency. You may want to contact the OC to see if you can satisfy the account before they sell it to someone else. Mine was sold to Calvary and they are still reporting monthly, three years later....

Re: cap one co deleted from equifax unexpectedly

The deletion by the creditor based on sale of the debt was voluntary.

When a creditor sells a debt to a debt collector, they are required to update the current balance to $0.  They are not required to delete.

They may choose to voluntarily delete either derogs or their entire account, thus removing any issues of having to consider disputes filed by the consumer, or for any other business reason, such as having to continue to monitor the account for any required updates.

They could choose, at any time, to reinsert the account or derogs, but are unlikely to do so if they have made the previous decision to delete.

I would not expect reinsertion......
